Doctoral thesis completed in 1982, published 1988

'goods' are his fields and possibly equipment. The use of pots as containers for traded commodities such as wine, luxury foods, and salt introduces a further factor in producer consumer relationships; the case for salt transportation has

been put by Rodwell (1979, 161), whilst Loughlin (1977, 88) has suggested that Dales ware jars were used as containers for unspecified traded commodities.
