A PREHISTORIC FLINT-WORKING SITE
AT BERENGRAVE NURSERY, RAINHAM

In July 1996, Archaeology South-East (a division of the University College London Field Archaeology Unit) carried out a small excavation within the footprint of a telecommunications mast and cabin within the grounds of Berengrave Nursery, Berengrave Lane, Rainham (TQ 815 668, see Fig. 1).1 A watching brief in June of the same year, during the
