THOMAS BROMS, Bishop of Norwich, 28 October 1445. To be buried in the upper (superiori) part of the nave of the Cathedral Church of Norwich, my spouse, near the middle of the altar of Saint William, upon which grave I will there be made a marble stone sculptured round in brass, with the Arms of Lord Herbert founder of the said church and my arms conjoined and sculptured in that stone the day month and year of my decease and the arms and letters so engraved to be gilt. I will that in each column of the Nave of that church as well on the right as on the left shall be made similarly Arms in Latten to remain perpetually. I leave 200 marcs to my said church to amend 45 copes of white silk in the style of the copes which are in my chapel woven with flowers of blue (blodio) or other copes as my executors shall decide, only they are to be of the same suit. 
I leave to the fabric (fabricam) of the nave of the Cathedral church of Rochester £20 to be distributed and served by two discreet monks of that church. Provided that the work be made as a memorial by sculptures of my arms and my name, so that those looking upon them may be the greater induced to pray for me. To the Prior of that church of Rochester if desiring devoutly to say the office of my exequies and mass on that day in his church solemnly by note 6s. 8d. To each monk of that church present at those services and singing devoutly 3s. 4d. 
I leave for a memorial to be had in the chancel of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the parish church of Sutton Courteney where my parents and "maiores mei" are buried £10 to repair the chancel and to decorate it. I leave 100 marcs to the exhibition of six boys of my lordships in my diocese in grammar and ‘sophistria’ in the university of Oxford. I will that my executors make a perpetual chantry of one monk to celebrate for my soul and my parents in the Nave of my church of Norwich next the tomb of Saint William and before my burial place. I leave 100 marcs to make an altar before my burial and a Reredos. (Many other bequests but the above to Rochester is the only Kent reference). Proved 17 February 1445 (131b Stafford).
