GILBERT DE HELL(ES), 11th November 1364. To be buried in the church of Godmersham before the altar of Blessed Mary in the going in of the door of the said altar. To the fabric of the said church 40s. and all debts which the parishioners owe me. To the chapel of Helles XXs to amend a missal book. I wish my executors to make a window of glass in the western part of the same chapel. I leave a marc to the amending of the houses of the chantry of Blessed Mary of Godmersham. To the fabric of the church of Crundale one marc. To the church of Waltham a mark to amend a missal. I leave to the vicar of Northderte (sic) and Hell’ half a mark to celebrate for my soul and the souls of my father and mother. To the fabric of the church of Northdert aforesaid ½ marc. 
To Juliana my daughter £40, if she live to the age of 20, for her marriage or if she wishes to enter a religious house as nun. To Thomasine my daughter £40 in same form. To Henry my brother 100s. To Elizabeth Pelicet 40s. I leave de Valoyngns 20s. To Sir Richard vicar of Godmersham 40s. To John Carter of Crundale 40s. To Agatha wife of John Martyn 1 marc. To William Pouchon 40s., Nicholas de Crossehorne 1 marc, Christiana Willems 40d., Peter atte Hachche (sic) ½ marc, Henry Porot j marc, Agatha Rike 5s., John Hunt 40d., John Steuene 40d. I leave 40s. to be distributed to all my servants except as above specified, in my manor of Hell’ Gyerynton (sic), Bettenham and Wethacr. To the expenses on day of my burial £20 and month’s day £10 and year’s day £10. Residue to be distributed according to disposition of Mary my wife, William de Halden, Richard vicar of the church of Godmersham and John Martyn, whom I ordain executors. 
Proved 10 December 1364 at Cherryng and administration granted to Mary who was wife of the said Gilbert de Hell’ of the parish of Godmersham, Sir Richard, vicar there and John Martyn, Executors. (206a Islep).
