JOHN NORTHWODE, Knight, of the County of Kent "penultimo die" of the month of February 1378. To be buried in the Church of the Nuns of Saint Sexburg of "Mentre in Scapeya" Canterbury Diocese. I will that my wife pay my debts of my goods. I will that Johanna my daughter have of my goods if there are any over after my debts are paid according to the discretion of the said Johanna my wife, Willm Frogenhale, Willm Suttone and John de Mere. I will that Stephen my son be found ‘ad scolas’ of my said goods after my debts are paid if there be sufficient to the effect he be moved to be a Religious or take Sacred Orders. I will that two men go on pilgrimage to visit the shrine of the Apostles Peter and Paul and Saint James in Galicia and that they be found of my said goods. Residue to Johanne my wife and executrix.
