To the perpetual sustentation of a lamp in the said chancel 4 marcs. I will that my executors buy tiles of Flanders (tegulas de Flandres) to pave the said chancell and make the chancel properly paved. To the sustentation of a lamp perpetually in the chancell of the church of Bourne (Ecclesiae de Bourne? whether Bishopsbourne is not intended) aforesaid 4 marcs. I will my executors cause the chancel of Bourne to be paved like that at Berham. To the work (fabrice) of the church of Berham 5 marcs. The work of the church of Bourne 2 marcs and a half. To my poor parishioners of Berham 10 marcs and of Bourne 5 marcs.
To Agnes my sister a robe which she shall choose. To Margaret ate Gore another, and another to John Elys. A third robe I leave to Elene my sister and to Simon Monyn my cloak furred with "Bewere". I will that my successor have my grange at Deryngstone and all my land adjacent there and the land next the Rectory of Bourne for a fitting price for reparations. I leave to John Lynch 100s., to Master Edmund Godwynstone 40a., to William Broke 20s., to Master Richard Tykenherst 40s., to William Tebold, Simon Lambyn, Adam Scheppherde, Thomas Webbe each 6s. 8d. To Thomas Scherrue 13s. 4d., to Roger Tailour my servant of Bourne 5 marcs. To John Medeford 5 marcs, to Henry Cook, Thomas Brok, John Michel each 20s. To Stephen our cook (coconostro) 10s.
I will my executors give to the poor for the soul of Master William Herewardstoke and the soul of Sir William Bellis 5 marcs. To the work of the church of Newenton 20s. My little breviary (portiphorim) I leave to Sir William Aleyn, priest of the Almonry of the Prior of Canterbury. I will the advowson of the church of Godham be sold and the money handed to my executors. To Sir John Elys vicar of Newwyntone 20s., to Nicholas ate Crouche my furred gowne of fines [fur of polecat's skins] and my furred gown of ‘otyr’. To William Peryngal 13s. 4d.
I make executors Edmund de Godwynstone, Simon Monyn, Stephen Nortone and John Lynch. I leave John Dygge son of my brother my silver and gilt cup with cover and six silver dishes (scutellos) and a silver covered cup of the better king and 24 good spoons and "pipam deauratam" [a small vessel] with cover, and a little hand basin and I will all these to remain with my executors until the full age of the said John. I wish that everything that remains in my disposition by the will of Roger my brother shall be disposed by my executors. I will the foresaid John Dygge have the great brass ‘campaneam’* and three other good brass (pieces). (* ? bell)
Proved 8 October "anno supradicto". He was Canon of the Collegiate Church of Wyngham and administration was granted to Master Richard de Warmyngton, Canon of the church of Wengham. Acquittance to executors 11 November 1379. [2 Idus LXXIX] (80b Sudbury).
