The year 1400, Indiction 8, Pontificate of the most holy Boniface Pope, 11th year, 5th August. To be buried in the parish church of Sydyngborne, Canterbury Diocese. To Sir John Whitman vicar of the said church to pray for my soul 20s. For my exequies there to be made 40s. To the work (operi) of the parish church of St. Botulph outside Aldrichgate ‘vulgariter nuncupatam’ where I am a parishioner 100s. (Gifts to various Order of Friars in London). Three chaplains to celebrate 3 years in (1) church of Sydyngburn (2) in St. Botulph.
I leave to Elianor my wife 40 marks and all the utensils of my house. To Johan my daughter 20 marcs. If she die then to Elianor my wife mother of the said Johan. To Robert Asham my clerk two beds viz one brown and the other red. To him the profit arising from 100 marcs which he has out of my own money at the Court of Rome to expedite there certain businesses and then I will he repay to my executors the said 100 marcs. To Sir John Bovn, chaplain, to pray for me 100s. and a silver chalice. To Richard Mey 100s. and a breviary. To Robert Kelsey my silver girdle with the letters "Deo gratias" and my black basalard. To Robert Wenyngham a ‘sloppam sangwyneam furratam’ and 100s. To Master Nicholas Ryssham 5 marcs. To Robert Wygton my servant a ‘sloppam’ of Russete and 20s. To Willm. my servant a green ‘slop’ and 13s. 4d. To John Marchaunt and his wife 40s. I wish my horse to be sold by Sir Robt. Neuton and Henry Jolipace my executors and the money distributed among the poor. To John Burghbrygge 20s. and Master Walter Cok 20s.
Residue to my executors to dispose for my soul. Besides I acknowledge I owe Sir John Kyok, Canon of the Coll: Ch: of St. Mary of Otterey, Exeter Diocese, 5 marcs. I am also "held" in 38 marcs to the Rev. Father Sir Thos. Butiller Bishop of Cristopolis. On the other hand Master Ralph, Canon of Welles is held to me in £100 of which I remit 50 marcs. Executors: Robert Neuton and Henry Jolipace chaplains. Dated in the ‘hospicium’ of Walter Hulotte in the Town of Sydyngburn. Present: the "discreet men" Master Nichs Rysshton, auditor of Causes of the Apostolic See, John Syggeston, dean of Stafford, and John Whitman vicar of the p. ch. of Sydyngburn. And I, Walter Cok, clerk of Lichfield diocese, Notary Public by Apostolic and Imperial Authority subscribe.
Proved 22 August 1400 at Maghfeld by Sir Robert Neuton with reserved power for the other. (171b Arundel I).
