JOHN DARELLE, 24 October 1438. To be buried in the church of the Blessed Mary of Little Chart. I leave to Florence my wife after my decease half my moveable goods in the City of London and Northflete. I leave to each of my sons a bed with sheets and ‘stuff’ according to the discretion of Florence my wife. To the daughters of Edward Seyn John 10 marcs. To John Ovyngton 40s. To Thomas Kyrkley 40s. I pardon Richard Hunt half the debt he owes me. To each of my farm servants 6s. 8d. 
To my lord the Archbishop of Canterbury my best gilt cup beseeching him with my whole mind and body that of his grace and benignity he will specially be indulgent to me for my negligencies and transgressions in words and deeds as well as my office as a regard to affection. I leave to the Rector of Little Chart for tithes forgotten 36s. 8d. To the Vicar of Charryng for tithes forgotten 40s. I leave 10 marcs for a Chaplain to celebrate in the church of Godmersham for the soul of John Walton and of all faithful departed. I leave to the fabric (fabrice) of the church of Godmersham 20s. and of Chilham 10 marcs. To each of my godsons a silver cup by the discretion of my wife. To the fabric of the church of Newenham next Feuersham £11.6.8. To John Mesewell 40s. 
To the work (opus) of the Bridge of Rochester £20. To William Yonge my servant in goods and chattels 100s. For distribution amongst the poor on my death 66s. 8d. I leave 100s to be distributed between my tenants dwelling next "warrennam apud Calhulle" for damage done to them by rabbits according to the discretion of my executors. I leave ‘ledys Johanni (sic) 20s. and a variegated gown with fur. I leave to the executors of the Will of William Bolle of Chartham 10 marcs. I leave 100 marcs for chaplains to celebrate at Chart aforesaid, Godmersham and Northflete for my soul and the souls of my Father and Mother, Thomasine my wife, Ralph earl of Westmorland, Henry King of England, Richard Cliderow, and all faithful departed. To the Prior and Convent of Combewelle £10, paying yearly 20s. 
I ordain executors, Florence my wife, William Darell my brother, Roger Heron clerk and William Palmere clerk, to dispose for me as they will answer before God. Dated at Scoteney the day and year abovesaid. Last Will of John Darelle, esquire of all my manors, lands, tenements, rents and services in which feoffees are enfeoffed to my use, on Friday next before the feast of the Apostles Symon and Jude, anno 17 Henry VI. Imprimis I wish that Florence my wife shall have Calhull, Newelond, Hoke and all my lands and tenements bought of Charrynge, for her life and after her decease to remain to William Darell my son and heirs male, and for default to remain to Robert my son and heirs male and for default to Thomas my son and heirs male for default to remain to William Darell my brother and heirs male, and for default to my right heirs. I wish that Robert my son after the decease of the said Forence shall have my manor of Merdale to him and his heirs male and for default to remain to Thomas my son and heirs male and for default to William my son and heirs male and for default to William Darell my brother. I wish that all the lands and tenements (which came through) Thomasine late my wife at Feuersham shall remain to the right heirs between me the said John Darell and the said Thomasine and for default remain to William Darell my brother. I wish that Thomas my son shall have all lands and tenements purchased called Jacokkys to him and his heirs and for default remain to John Waller and the heirs of the said John Waller and Matilda late his wife and for default remain to John Champayn and Margaret his wife. I wish that Anna wife of William Darell my son shall have of my lands and tenements at Feuersham £10 yearly rent during her life and remain after her death to the heirs between the said William and Anna and for default to the right heirs of Thomasine late my wife and in default to William Darell my brother. 
Item I wish that with the value of the land at Hacchyden shall be found a priest to celebrate divine worship for the souls of (blank). I wish that my Quay or Wharf at Feversham be sold to the men of the town of Feuersham. I give to Florence my wife, William Darell my brother of County of Wiltes, Roger Heron and William Palmer clerk (executors) all my lands and tenements which I have in the parish of St. John of Walbrok, London, wishing that they be sold and the money disposed for the health of my soul. 
I leave the profit of my Will at Northflete to the fabric (fabricam) of Rochester Bridge for 10 years on condition that the Guardians of the said bridge take all charges for reparations and the lords fee. I wish that all my lands and pasture called Wheatcre of Crundale next the manor of Thomas Hyllys be sold and the money disposed for my soul quickly and in the best way by the discretion of my executors and friends. 
I wish that the two ships at Northflete be sold and the money disposed for my soul. I wish that the messuage "le Crane" and "le Storehous" at Feuersham lately bought of Henry Typynden (with reversion after the death of John Paris) be sold and the money disposed for my soul quickly and in the best manner by my executors. 
Probate is not filled in. The next Will entered was proved on 12 November 1440. (470a Chichele I).
