JOHN GRENE, rector of the parish church of Cherryng, 4 June 1434. To be buried in the chancel of the said church of Cherryng. To Master William Crowton one bible, 2nd folio "Hec a me", a book called ‘Januens super Eun’geliis dm’calibz 2nd fo. Qd serpens’, a book called ‘Parisiens 2nd fo. In sum meo’. A book called "Thom: de Veritatibus" 2° fo. "in hoc scripto"., a book "Sermonum dominicalium" 2° fo. "sionem lauare", a "Golden Legend" 2° fo. "de sanctis protho" a quarternus of Sermons, 2° fo "and therfore", a book of Sermons 2° fo."Maria luc. primo". 
I leave to the parish church of Tyngewyke (Bucks) a breviary. 2° fo. "si festiui Sancto Andree" under condition that the wardens of the said church cause my obit to be observed for the following ten years. I leave a book called "Skofa in medicinis" to New College Oxford, 2° fo. "generata ledens". Item I leave a book called "Lilium medicine" to the common library of the University of Oxford, 2° fo. "qui cognoscat". 
I leave to William Grene my brother 12 marcs, two of the best gowns, a cushion, two blankets, two pair of sheets of the best, a coverlet, with tester six silver spoons, a good towel and cloth. To Sir John Smale a silver casket (craterem) six silver spoons a mantel lined and a book called "Summa de Casibus". To Hammund my attendant (famulo) a bed with coverlet, two blankets and a pair of sheets and 20s. To John my attendant 20s. and half "dosen de pewtyr vessell". To Sir Nicholas vicar of Cherryng a book of Sermons 2° fol "Inquinam", and a book of Sermons 2° fol "et dolorem", and a Quarternus of Sermons. 2° fol "Simonia est". To Richard Petyion 20s. 
To Wm. Grene my kinsman 20s. To Thomas Grene my kinsman 20s. To Sir William chaplain celebrating in the parish church of Wyngham a blue gown with hood of the same colour. I leave twelve marcs for the stipend of two priests per annum in Oxford to pray for my soul and my friends. I ordain executors Sir John Smale, Master Wm. Crowton and William Grene my brother. Residue I leave to my executors to dispose for the health of my soul. Witnesses John Hodene, Henry Yorden. 
Proved 29 December 1434 at Maydeston and administration granted to Master Wm. Crowton with reserved power for the other executors. (449a Chichele I).
