JOHN CHAUNDELER, ‘licet indignus Rector’ of the parish church of Bradested, Monday in the feast of St. Linus 1431. To be buried within the chancel of my church aforesaid in the place there where the Lord’s sepulchre is wont to stand at Easter time. To the said church a chasuble of silk ‘chekked’ with equipment for a chaplain. To the parish clerk of the church aforsaid for his service 12d. and a gown of the second best. To my successor Rector of the above church a table with two ‘Tristell’, a napkin with two towels and a tablecloth for a fixed table (tabula dormienti) a laver hanging in the Hall a brass dish a chest in the chamber according to the discretion of my executors. To my Lord the Bishop of Rochester, John Longdon, a silver gilt cup with cover ‘Swaget’, and a gold ring with a ‘diamaund’. I leave to Mercy Carreu six pieces of silver under one cover of silver and the bone of an unicorn !!! (os vnicorni) with a silver gilt chain ‘de trefoill’. To the Prior of Tunbrygge a maser with its cover silver gilt harnessed. I leave to Elene Tenterden my best silver cup standing upon lions with its cover and my best gown that the same Ellen may cause to beordained a marble stone price 40s. over my tomb with this writing graven in the said stone ‘Oblivio’. 
To Master John Luk, Canon of Sarum a book called Historia Scolastica. As for my other books I desire a distribution to be made as in a certain schedule. To Thomas Chaundeler my brother eight oxen with certain wagon (biga) called ‘Wayn’ and all its equipment. To Johan wife of the said Thomas my brother my ring with which my Mother was married and a gown furred with ‘fychewes’. To the daughter of the said Thomas six silver spoons. To John Tenterden ‘iremonger’ of London two salts with one cover of silver and one ‘pouderbox’ of silver and my horse. To Johan daughter of the same John Tenterden 13s. 4d. To Nicholas Snow my servant four calves and seven pigs to Alice his wife my cloak (armilausam) lined with ‘murry’ cloth. To Sir Wm. de Sondressh a coverlet with the arms of Northumbr’. To Sir Walter de Bradestede a lined gown and a red coverlet a pair of ‘blanketts’ a pair of sheets and a tunic of ‘fustyan’. To Andrew Swaynlond my uncle a lined gown. 
I will my executors from my goods ordain a pair of candlesticks ‘auricalcati’* price 40s. in the parish church of Tunbregge to serve as long as they will endure. Residue of my goods and those of a certain Sir Richard Lentwardyn received by me and not yet distributed. I leave in masses to be celebrated for my soul and his according to the discretion of the said Thomas Chaundeler my brother and of John Tenterden whom I make executors. 
Proved in the Palace of Canterbury 4 February 1431 and commission to administer goods of the deceased and also those of Sir Richard Lentwardyn also deceased late a Canon of Wyngham, to the said Thos. Chaundeler and John Tentirden, executors (425a Chichele I).
* metal of copper and zinc of which Roman coins were made.
