To Sir John, parish chaplain 20d. To the fabric (fabrice) of the said church 6s. 8d. To the fabric (fabrice) of the said church all the wood existing in four acres of my land which was sold to John Marchaunt, colyer, of Halstyd.
To Alice my wife a croft called Chikkyscrofte and all lands and tenements which I late bought of Ralph VVichard, Thomas Thecher and Thomas Balsett or one of them within the tithing (decenum) of Stepham for the term of her life and after her decease to remain to my heirs. Residue to said Alice my wife to pay my debts and to keep and govern my sons viz John, Richard and Alice (sic) and I make her executrix.
Proved in the manor of Otteford 18 January 1420 by Alice relict. (343a Chichele I).NOTE: The name of the testator is entered in the register as Speham. He himself speaks of the tithing as Stepham. The place is now known as Sepham.
