JOHN MEW of East Pekham, Monday next before the Feast of the Apostles Phillip and James 1420. To be buried in the church of St. Michael or in the chancel of Blessed Mary of East Pekham. To the high altar of Watrynghery 3s. 4d., of Netylsted 3s. 4d., of Tewdele 20d. To the sacrist of East Pekham 12d., to the clerk there 12d. To each of my attendants (famulis) a cow. To each of my godsons 3s. 4d. To Nicholas my servant 20s. I leave to serve in the chancel of Blessed Mary in the church of East Pekham a missal, a vestment and a chalice. 
I leave to Elizabeth my wife all my animals, hay and grain and all other "Hostelamenta" pertaining to "Housbandris" and my house and the residue to be expended for my soul etc. Supervisor Sir John Prior of Tonbrigg and the said Elizabeth my wife and Simon Goldsmyth to be executors. To all faithful in Christ etc whereas I have lately given etc and by my deed have confirmed to Richard Maydeston, John Curteler, clerk, Gilbert Godyng, Reginald Colt and John Messager, all my lands and tenements in the parishes of East Pekham Watryngbery and Tewdele and afterward at the instance and request of me the said John Mew the same Gilbert (and others as above) released and quit claimed all their right in the said lands and tenements and gave and conceded by their deed to John Sondy, John Curteler aforesaid, Robert Sprynget, Wm. Joop, Thomas Horden and John Reue all the said lands etc. Let it be known to all that I the said John Mew on Wednesday next before the feast of St. Gregory the Pope in 6th year of Henry V declared my will and intention in regard to the said lands etc in this form: 
Firstly I will that William Joop and Thomas Horwen aforesaid by the discretion and supervision of the Prior of Tunbridge after my death sell all the said lands and tenements. I wish that the said Prior dispose of all the money coming there from for my soul and all faithful departed, and that Elizabeth my wife have £100. To the two daughters of Thomas Twyttham 20 marcs. I will that the said John Curteler aforesaid be found for three yeare to celebrate in the church of East Pekham for the souls aforesaid 10 marcs. To the Prior and Convent of Tonbrigge £10 and to the same Prior for his trouble 10 marcs. To Sir Stephen, canon there 40s. To the poor in the foresaid parish 100s. To the Prior and Convent of Eylesford 5 marcs. 
To the House of the religious women of Northampton 10 marcs. To the Church Nicholas Breton there 100s. To three orders of Friars in London 20s. To the fabric (fabricam) of the church of Huntyngton (i.e. Hunton) 13s. 4d. To Simon Goldsmyth 40s. Dated at East Pekham. I leave to the fabric (fabricam) of the Chancel of Blessed Mary in the parish church of East Pekham £10. To Agnes Parker 10 marcs. To John Howchon 5 marcs. 
Proved at Lambeth 7 December 1420 by Simon Goldsmyth with reserved power for Elizabeth relict. And on 8th December a commission issued to the Vicar of East Pekham to take up the Administration for the said Elizabeth. On 17 November 1421 acquittance of the said executors. (341a Chichele I).
