John Glover of
Benynden, 6 June 1489. To be buried in the church of St George of
Benynden. To the light before the high cross 12d. To the light of St
John Baptist 12d. To the light before the image of the Blessed Virgin
Mary 12d.
To Johan my wife two cows and the tables & tressles in the hall. If
she marry or die then Thomas my son to have them. To Johan my wife a
silver cup until Richard son of John Bigge comes to 24 yeres. I leave to
Thomas son of Thomas Watt chattels to the value of 6s 8d residue thereof
to my wife Johan. Residue to Thomas Glover my son & he to be
executor. [Latin]
Last will: I will Johan my wyfe have & occupie the place I dwelle in
at Benyndennys forstall and a howse wt a garden at that other side of
the strete as long as she is soole wedow, wt sufficient fowell every
yere for hyr to be taken part in the woode at Polonton and part in the
woode at Frennyngham at discrecion of my feoffees, she for to felle it
& cary home at hyr owne cost. If she will release 13s 4d every yere
of her joyntor she shall have two peces of lond of the which one is
callid Bernefeld & thother Netherlond severally lying in Benynden on
the denne of Benynden.
To Richard Bigge son of John Bigge and of Alice my doughter all my londs
& tenements in Old Romney at 24. To John Glover my godson son of
Thomas Glover aforeseid all my londs & tenements in Sandherst at 24,
except a parcell of lond late purchased of Reynold a Broke the which to
Thomas my sonne.
Proved 14 Oct. 1489 by the oath of the Vicar of Benynden. [PCC 19
