William Lawles of
Rolvinden, 9 September 1556. To be buried in the parishe churche of our
blessid Ladye in Rolvinden. At my buriall 26s 8d, monethe day 20s, yeres
mynde 10s.
To Elizabeth my wife £20 and all soche goodes howshold stuf that she
nowe hath at Tenterden in her custodie and 2 seames of wheate and the
profitt of the mesuage & landes in Tenterden which Thomas Blachynden
dyd assigne unto her for certayne yeres.
To my sonne John Lawles, fyve silver spoones etc and £20 which is in
his masters handes. To my sonne Richarde Lawles my salte of silver, my
signet of golde etc and all things nowe belonging to my house where I
doo nowe dwell.
Residue to my household stuff to my sonne William Lawles.
Item to Johanna Patchyng for certayne consideracons 33s 4d at 24 or her
mariage. To John Blachynden my wieffs sonne 20s. To George Blachynden
20s at their age of 21. To the newe making up of the Roodelofte in
Rolvinden Churche accordinge to myn promys made to Mr Percye £3, so
that it be made wt in 3 yeres.
To Richarde Whitewood my longe night gowne furyed wt foynes. To Stephyn
Cowper my black velvet doblet. To my sister Hoigges my tawny velvet
doblet. My executors shall give my 3 sonnes honest spending money till
they be 21. Residue to my sonne John at 21.
Thomas Phellippe my sonne in law and Richard Whitewood of Rolvinden
executors & Mr Richard Bakere my overseer.
Last will: of me Willyam Lawles. Unto Richard Lawles my sonne when 21
all my mersheland in the parish of Dymchurche in Romney Marshe callid
the Greate Perye, lytle Perie and the owt landes to the same perteyning
and my mesuage in the parish of Braborne and Bircholt I late purchased
of John Smythe and my litle new tenement and all my landes in the Denne
of Knok in Tenterden.
My wife Elizabeth £8 every yere out of the said landes.
To the said William when 21 my principal mesuage I do dwell in in
Rolvinden and all my landes to the said mesuage upon the dennes of
Abbottynden and Medsell and my 10 acres of woodlande upon the denne of
Devernden, also my messuage & landes in the parish of Bedynden
saving all suche landes that John Lachynden hath now to ferme (Remainder
to other sons) and my wif Elizabeth to have £5 every yere oute of the
same.
I will that Robert Stockewoode shall have to ferme the said my
principall messuage, gardens & lands he now doth occupie for 2 yeres
after my decease using yt well.
To John Lawles my sonne when 21 my mesuage at the churchyard gate at
Rounden and Lambynwood and Lambynlandes and all my mesuage & landes
at Holewysshe in Rounden upon the dennes of Holewysshe and Hassynden and
a mesuage & landes in the parish of Benenden which I dyd exchange
with Jervays Baker wch I late bought of John & Richard Moore upon
the denne of Chesynden in Rowinden, also myn annuitie of 26s 8d oute of
the landes of Peter Brodstreet in Tenterden.
To have & hold to the said John Lawles and all suche landes as John
Lacynden of Bedenden hath now in occupying lying in Bedynden (remainder
to other sons).
To William Phillippe my doughters sonne when 21 five peacs of lande at
Redinge in parisshes of Tenterden & Ebbeney (remainder to son John
Lawles in default of heirs).
Myne executors shall take estate of Jerveys Bakere of suche landes as he
& I have exchaunged to the use of my sonne John Lawles.
If Elizabeth my wife do refuse & will not releas all her interest of
& in all my foresaid lands then in no maner of wise that the said
Elizabeth shall not have those goodes, stuff etc nor the mesuage and
landes that were Thomas Blachyndens nor no maner of money out of no
landes of myne.
Witness: Mr Vicar, Richard Hobbard theldere, Richard Penfold, John
Kencham, Thomas Hollenes, John Osbourn, George Day and Richard
Whitewood.
