John DAVY - Will 1 March 1467

John Davy of the
parish of Tentyrden, 1st March 1467. To be buried in the
church of St Mildred the Virgin of Tentyrden. To reparation of the
church 6s 8d. To reparation of the great cross "apud le Northfrith
in eadem ecclesia" (?is this a clerical error for ‘North Door’
or for ‘parish’) 6s 8d. To the exhibition of one priest to celebrate
in the said church at the Altar of St Stephen 10 marcs & another in
the Chapel of St John Baptist at Smalhith 26s 8d.
I leave to Johan my wife six silver spoones etc. To Robert my son a
featherbed etc. To William my son a ‘federbed’ etc. To Isabel my
daughter wife of John Markele 5 marcs. To William Blecchynden 20s, John
Gesole 20s, John Pers 13s 4d. Residue to Johan my wife & Richard,
Thomas, Robert & William my sons. Executor Richd Davy, my son &
Johan Pers & Johan my wife supervisors.
Last will: 1 March 1467 of lands & tenements. To Richard my son my
messuage in which I now dwell at ‘le Watersid’ with ‘le Verye’
(?Ferry) with my lands ‘ex altera parte Rumli’ there with one piece
of land late John Jan’s called le Marlyng which lately was Thomas
Carpenter’s, of which one piece is called le Slychynge & other two
pieces ‘lie between le Slecchynge & Hoggestrite & my lands at
Emelishmen late bought of Thomas Carpenter & another piece of land
above Emelishmen called Northfeld, he rendering to Johan my wife yearly
26s 8d.
To Thomas my son my messuage above Emelishman in le Smalhithstrete &
all my lands lately purchased of John Dalot except one piece of an acre
in le Hangyr because those two pieces of an acre in le Hangyr which
lately were John Dalot’s I ordain to Richard Davy. To the same Thomas
Davy I give one piece of land lying above Douborne twards East &
South to the land of Philip Blomfford west to le Northfeild & north
to the new road there, and one piece of land called Halfheld another
piece called le Held & another called Lambynefeld in the tenure of
of Alyngtone.
I will to Robert my son a messuage called Hyghes with a way to the well
there. I will to Robert another messuage called Werthys & 4 pieces
of land with a garden annexed in le Stokgate there of which two lie on
the Denne of Ekr & other two lie in tenure of the Court of Lymynge.
I leave to Robert one piece of land called Wellefeld & another piece
called Bromefeld & another called le Knoll at le Curtfeldesgrof, one
half ‘de Farnhill’ & the other moiety ’de la Broke’ and my
land at Pykhild.
I will to William my son my principal messuage with appurtenances &
one piece of land called Hoggestretefeld & Akrisbrok & two
pieces of land called le Nelbowe, another piece called Courtfeld &
my lands called Sandhill otherwise Amothill & the moiety of
Farnehill & other moiety of le Brok.
Above all I will that Johan my wife have her dwelling reserved in the
south part of my principal messuage, viz le parlour botrye & solar,
& annually a thousand billets etc. To Marion my daughter a messuage
in Smalhith which lately was Thomas Inglot’s. (Latin)
