John Searlys 20 Nov. 1476. To the Brotherhood
of St John the Baptist 3s 4d & to each other Brotherhood in the Church
12d; to the two parish-clerks there 2s. To the high altar of Promhill (Broomhill?)
for tithes 20d.
To John Breggs my best padded breeches (bombicinium), helmet
(salet) gauntlets, shield (pollex) & sword called a Baslardsword also
six cups of silver. To Joan Love (ie widow) my little gilt maser; Margaret
Brokhill a featherbed; James Galwey my best red gown, Wm Benett half part
of one net with half the cords called a draw-net; John Cokerede one sprot
net; Thomas Roper one sprot net; John and Richard Hykk my cabin with
capston being at the Nesse and also one sprot-net.
Residue after paying debts etc to wife Joan who with John
Breggs & Stephen Cheseman senior otherwise called Hoygge my executors.
Feoffees: John Breggs, John Godfray otherwise called Fermor, baker, John
Godfray otherwise called Fermor, and Peter Fermor otherwise called Godfray.
Wife Joan two pieces of land formerly Thos Griggs which I
obtained from John Godfray or Fermor, butcher & certain other land.
