John Smythe of Snave in Rolmneys Marshe in Kent. 6 July 1549, 3 Ed VI. To be buried in church or churchyard of Snave. I will at my buryall suche Ralyf and comforte to be done and bestowed unto power people as shalbe thought mete by myn exectuor & also in like case at my monethes daie. Unto the comon chest in Snave comonly callyd the poore mens boxe 3s 4d. 
I will Margaret my wyf have the profitt of all my landes & tenements in Snave and Rockyndge and of 6 acres in Ivychurche duringe lyfe & then to Barlymew Bamlett my brother the Tenement & lands for ever. To Margaret my wyfe 4 kyen indifferently sortyd, 5 semys of wheate & 5 of malte redye in the house & thone half of my corne upon the grounde nowe growing, one yonge redde mare without colte & all my householde not bequeathed wt all the pultrye & 40s towards the reparacon of ye barne.
To Margery Nores my servant five parcelles of lande in the parish of Ivychurch, 22 acres. and 3 kyne, one blanket etc and the yerely profit onto of the landes of the heyres of John Austen of Tenterden of £30. To Bartylmew Bamlett & Henry Bamlett my brothers £5 To Bartilmew Bamlett my said brother one cople of oxen, a wayne, a ploughe & mete harness unto it. Unto William Borne my servant one cowe etc. Unto John Colman my servant one two yereing hayfer. Joane Stock my servant one cowe.
To reparacon of the high wayes substancially to be mended to begyne at the gate brode lake next my mansion house & so forthe towarde Ivychurch & at Pynnocke Bridge £10. To Edward Godfrey of Snave all my leases & the profits of my lease londes during the terme of yeres thereof. Residue to the relyfe & comforte & helpe of poor people wt in the parishe of Snae to praye for my soule & all xpen??? soules departyd in the feithe of Jesu Christ. Edward Godfrey, my executor and Sr Geffrey Astley, clerke, overseer. Witnesses: Geoffrey Astley, clerke, John Foster, Wm Carter, John Carpenter otherwise called John Vyncent & Edward Godfrey.
