Willyam Wattes of
Ivye Churche, 18 April 1555. To be buried in the churche. To Reynolde
Wattes my brother £6.13.4. To the the childe my wief is greate withall
6s 8d. To my brother Henrye Wattes of Hollingborne 13s 4d. To Edmunde
Wattes his sonne, my godsone 20s & to every of his other childrene
6s 8d when 15. To my brother Nicholas Wattes of Dodynton 13s 4d, &
to everye of his two childerne 6s 8d when 15. To my brother Edward
Wattes of Dodynton 40s. To George Okenwolde & John (sic) Okenwolde
my sisters children, my godchildren 20s & the parte of Joane (sic)
to be delivered to her (sic) at Michaelmas after my decease & the
part of George when 15. To Peter Okenwolde my saide sisters sonne a
hayffer of two yeres. To Ellynor my sister & to her childe unto
every of them 6s 8d. To Mildred Wattill, wydow, 6s 8d to comfort her
& her children wythall. To poore people in Ivey Church &
Brokeland £3, also of Hollingbourne 26s 8d, all at the feast of All
Sayntes next coming & also to Dodington to everye poor housolder
12d.
To Reynolde Wattes my brother one geldinge. give & remyt unto
Reynolde Wattes, the widdow of John Clarke, the widdow of Wm Goore, Wm
Robynsone, Richard Merleborowghe & Stephene Snyman all debtes. To
Stephen Taylor my servant 5s. To every of my covenaunte servantes as
well mene as women 3s. To Wm Tanner, Mawde Taylour & Margaret Clarke
my servants 3s 4d to be bestowed to theire increase, profitt & use
by theire keperes & governors till they come to theire age of
sextene yeres.
If Mawde Taillor dye before 16 then her parte to her brothers &
systers and similarly Margaret Clerke. If WmTanner dye before 16 then to
remain to my wieff & to the childe she now goith withal if it lyve.
Residue of my goods, leases etc unto Margerye my wieff & the childe
she goith withal. My wieff soole executrice & my brothers Nicholas
Wattes & Reynold Wattes & Thos Harendene overseers.
To my brother Reynolde Wattes the use & occupacon of 18 acres of my
leasede landes in Gildforde Marshe duryng the terme of the lease so that
he do yelde & pay the discharge of the yerely ferme therof for every
acre of the said 18 acres thre shellinges yerely. Witnesses: Laurence
Henar, Wm Gilpyne, Roberte Butynge [?Bunting] & Richarde Gibbes. If
my childe dye at any time then half to poore people in Iveychurche,
Brokeland, Fayrefeilde & Apledore. Witnes: Laurence Hever, Thos
Clarke.
Proved 4th Novr 1555 by Arthur Blechinden proctor for
