Thomas Wood of
Brokeland in Kent, 25 Oct 1556 (3 & 4 Philip & Mary). To be
buried in churchyard of Apledor. To tenne por men to beare my corps to
Apledor 10s. To pristes & clarkes & por people at my buryall to
have masses & diridge & other good praiers for my soule &
all xpen??? soules 40s, thone half at Apledor & thother at Brokland.
To reparacon of the church of Brokeland 6s 8d and of Apledore 6s
8d.
To Thomesyn my wif £40. To John Tokey sonne of my saied wif £5 &
to Robert Tokey his brother £20. To George Baker 10s. To every of my
servants 20d. To William Hayne 10s & such money as he oweth me. To
Thomas Borne my servant 20 owys the best he can chose amonge one
hundreth goyng at Bewalls & oen Ramme there the beste & one
haffer I bought of John Gybbes & another black heffer with a white
face long legged & the occupacon of the lande I bought of Nicholas
Harowarde, Wm Edolf & Robt Gylphin by 4 yeres next after my decease
so he occupyed hymself & not other wyse.
I will my brother Wm Wood my lease of the graunt of John Lighid & 40
ewe lambes & two Ramme lambbes of the best & thre kyne &
fower working oxon & steres, that is one black gored bulstere &
one black bullstere one red wrighdstere & one black gored & my
dunne gelding.
To my wif 4 kyne of thoise that were hers before I married her & 2
mayres one balde & thother baye. To Richard Wood my kinsman of Wye
40s. To Wm Knell thelder of Brokeland one red heffer swart color narrow
hornes and £3 & 50s John Lighe oweth me. To John Knell thelder of
Brokeland 20 of my beste Ewys at Cheyne Courte. Androwe Robins & Wm
Knell aforesaid to be my ouerseers & Wm Wood my brother, executor.
If my wif be with child then my brother William Wood shall appoynt
Thomas Borne 12 acres of lande out of my ferme late John Lighes for 4
yeres paying yerely 3s 4d & all the overplus of my goodes not
bequethed to the said childe at age of 16. As touching my landes &
tenements this is the laste will of me Thomas Wood. I will my brother Wm
Wood shall have all my lands in Brokeland & ells where in Kente,
provided that if my wif be wt child then I will the same child shall
have all my saied lands etc. I gyve Lawrance Baker of Ivechurch two
busshels of Barley for certeyn trespassies to hym doun. Witnesses: James
Knell, Wm Wood, John Sterkey, George Baker, Androwe Robins, & Wm
Knell.
