THOMAS BOWRYNG of the parish of Stapylherst, 26 April 1475. To be buried in the churchyard of the Church of All Saints at Stapylherst. To the high altar 4d. To the light of Blessed Mary 4d. To the light of All Saints 4d. To the light of Blessed Margaret 2d., and of Blessed Katherine, 2d., of Saint James 2d., of St. George 2d., of St. Christopher 2d., of St. Erasmus 1d.
Residue to Marion my daughter which Marion and John Rydden I make executors. [Latin]
This is the last wille of me Thomas Bowryng of Stapylherst by me personally reherseth and declareth 15 Apryll in the yere and reyne of Kyng Edward the IIII of England XV to John Herynden, Roger Aleyn and John Rydden and John Cobbe my foeffees. My feoffees shall suffer Agnes my wife and her assignes to take profits of my mesuage and lands in Stapylherst atte the northe side of the strete att Aissheherst terme of her life for the value of 40s. by yere and if she refuse then an annuyte of 40s. out of lands in Stapylherst and Frethenden. Also my feoffees shall suffer the said Agneys to take the profyte of my mesuage and gardens in Stapylherst upon the denne of Iden unto the tyme that Maryone my doughter be maried and if the said Agneys att the day of my decease be childing wt a male thanne I wylle the saide Maryone whanne she is wedded shall take the profits of half the mesuage vpon Iden.
I will my feoffes shall suffer the said Agnes to take the profits of my newe chamber and of the other halfe of my siad mesuage and gardens vpon Iden terme of her wydowhode and at the full age of 24 yeres my foeffees to deliver a full state to the said male of all my said lands except the annuytie, mesuage and lands to the seid Agneys bifore ordeyned.
To the said amle my querne, a shot ketyll, my mydelle cawdrone and a possenett stated to be kept in a chambr of my mesuage vnto the age aforesaid. And if he decease or if my wife be childing wt a female thanne my feoffees shall suffer the said Marione and her assignes to take and have profits of all my lands and rentes terme of her life, except the annuytie, mesuage and lands to the said Anneys bifore ordeyned and after the death of said Agneys to the said Marione.
To Johanne my doughter 40s. To Thomasyne my doughter 40s. to be paid at the fest of All Halowen next comyng. After the decesse of the said Marione all the said lands and tenements to the heirs of the said Marione.
To my brothers doughter or to her heires 40s. To Elyse a Berowe 6s. 8d. To Johanne Boyman 6s. 8d. Residue to amende and repair the Kyngs streete as ferr as it will stretche bytwene Stapylherst and Knokesbrigge.
My best cowple oxen, 3 kyne, 1 gray mare, the otes growyng vpon too acres of land, 12 busshellys whete and all my whete atte Tyseherst, two semys otes, malte, two lyff hoggys, three bachon flycches, three yerds russet, halfe my pultrie and fwell to my wife to her propre vse on hole yere after my decesse of suche wodde as is in the
Kyngs streete vpon the denne of Idenne.
To John Cobbe 20s. To Alice Forsten 12d.
My executors to amende the Kyngs strete a yenst Iden Forstall to the full valur of 13s. 4d. for the heethe of my soule and pleasure of God.
