JOHN ROGER of Byddenden [Biddenden], clothier, 14 November 6 Edward VI. To Agnes my wief £30 and two of the best Kyen, two semes of wheate and two seames of barly malt, the best gelding save one or the best mare save one of the syde saddell, all my household and stuf all my brasse, pewter, beddes and bedstedills, reserving unto Stephen Roger my sonne the best bedstedill &c.
Vnto Marion Roger my doughter £20 the profitts to go the kepinge of her till she cometh to thage of 14 yeres and from that to 24 yeres my executors to take up the profytt to her use if she be not maryed before.
To Elizabeth Roger my doughter £20 (as before).
I will Agnes my wief honestly and vertuosly kepe and bring vpp Marion and Elizabeth my two doughters till they come to 14 yeres.
To Agnes my wief thone haulf of my butter and my chese and two flitches of bacon and the keping for her two kyne vntill Saint Georgs daye next and hey.
Vnto my suster Margarets children 6s. 8d. Vnto my suster Joanes children 6s. 8d. Vnto my suster Marions children 6s. 8s. Vnto my suster Agnes children 6s. 8d. Vnto my suster Elizabeths children 6s. 8d. Vnto my suster Alices children 6s. 8d. Vnto Stephen More 10s., Thomas Symon 10s., Richard Hampton 10s., Davy Mathey 10s. I forgive John Gyles 24s. dett. To Austen Sweting all detts. To Henry Harte 20s. debt and John Tomsett 20s. dett.
My three seruaunts Christofer Prestene, William Lawne and Richard Hope shalbe honestly apparellyd and to have their money as though they had servyd their hole yeres of covenaunts. To poore at my burying 40s.
Rest to my executors to bye lands to thuse of Stephen Roger my sonne.
Executors: Stephyn Roger my father, Gyles Cowcheman and John Bygg.
Witness: Edmunde Alen, John Selys and Richard Snode.
Proved 8 June 1553 by Giles Cowcheman and Stephen Roger by said Giles, John Bigg executor being dead.
On 7 February 1560 a commission to Agnes Roger alias Foche late relict of John Roger to administer goods not yet administered by Stephen Roger and Giles Coucheman who are now deceased. (P.C.C. 12 Tashe)
