JOHN HYLLES thelder of
Bedynden [Biddenden], 19 September 1508. To be buried in the
churchyard of the parish Church of Bedynden. I leave to William Stamyden,
clerk, late one of the "farmers" of the Rectory of Bedynden
10s.
To John Frende late another "farmer" of the said Rectory 10s.
I will that if William Smyth pay to my executor immediately after my
decease 10s. that then he shall have again lectum plumale which
was his.
I leave to John Hylles my kinsman --------.
I wish that my executor shall receive of Thomas Smyth of Omyden 18s. I
leave to the reparacon of a certain way called le Sandewey 6s. 8d. I
remit to Robert Baker 13s. 4d. of 18 marcs which he owes to me
for certain lands late bought of me the aforesaid John Hylles in Hedcron.
Residue to Leatrice my wife and executrix. [Latin]
Last will of me John Hylles thelder. I will that if Thomas Hylles of
Milkhouse [In Cranbrook] will for the some of £19 purchase a messuage
in Bedynden vpon the Denne of Omynden which I lately purchased of the
said Thomas, my executrix shall sell it and the money coming there from
my executrix shall have for the fyndyng of Gregory Waterman my brother
durying his life. My executrix shall sell my mesuage, londs and
werkhouse wt. a coper lede, Tonnes and all other instruments in the same
werkhouse lying in the parisshe of Mersham which I lately bought of John
Best.
If Roger Ailesbury will for £19 purchase messuage in Woodchurch I
lately purchased of him my executrice shall sell.
I will that Geffrey Gebon make a state to my executrice of two pecs. of
lond lying vpon the Denne of Brekynden the which I lately purchased of
him for eight marcs and after suche estate made I will my executrice
sell the seid two pecs. of lond to John Lachynden bifore any other.
I will that Richard Reynold shalhave my londs callid Geffreys paying for
the same 14 mrcs. I remytte and forgeve Stephen Pell 20s. of thoes £20
the which the said Stephen nowe owes me for certain londs lately
purchased of me. I will Thomas Bisshop will for £10 purchase my
messuage lying at Betirams woode he to have it before any other, if
William Bisshop refuse to buye. If Leatrice my wif be wt. child and a
man child [arranges as to land for same].
