WILLIAM HOVYNDEN of the
parrishe of Frethynden, 29 April 1514. To be buried wt in the chauncell
of Our Lady wt in the churche of Frethynden. To the Rodelight 8d., Our
Lady 4d.
To Henry Hovynden my father £8. To Robert my brother 13s. 4d. To
Elizabeth my suster 13s. 4d. To Anne my wife £20 wt all myn instuf of
household. To euery of my doughters Johanne and Margery 20 marcs at
their age of 20.
A preest to rede and syng for my soule and all xpen soules in the church
of Frethynden 6 yeres, euery yere 10 marke. The whiche preest I will my
gostly father Sr. Edward Marche shall do it assone as canne bee
reasonably prouyded for. An yerely obite wt in the church of Frethynden
6 yeres, euery yere 6s. 8d.
Residue at discrecion of Stephen Busshopp and Henry Woodewarde my
executours.
Wittenesses: Sir Edward Marche, parrishe preest there, Bartilmewe
Busshop, Henry Hovynden.
Last will: of all landes and tenements in the parish of Frethynden or
elswhere in Kent in the whiche William Webbe, John Boxer and other bee
infeoffed. I will Anne my wife take the yerely issues of my mesuage and
lands I bought of Stephen Launds as long as she dwellith therein and if
she marry then my executors to take till William my soonne be 24 and
then he to take profits hymself.
If my wif be with childe wt a mannchild I will he have as good parte as
my soonne William. [If all die then to be sold except those lands which
I purchased of William Webbe which my feoffes are to deliver to my
brethren equally] and the money of the other lands to euery of my
doughters £20 and £40 to the bying of a sute of vestments for the
church of Frethynden.
