JOHN DE GOSEBORNE son of Thomas de Goseborne of Apuldre. Corpus meum ad sepeliendum in capite occidentale novi operis ecclesie beate Marie Matfelon extra Algate, London, in medio vie pedestris ibidem incipiente per tres pedes a capite dicti parietis in que magna fenestra edificatur. To the rector of the same to pray for me and for the soule of Idonia late my wife 66s. 8d. To the work of the new belltower in the said church 50s. I leave my ‘portiphorium notatum’ to the use of the said church.
To the prioress of the house of nuns of Stratford atte Bowe 40s. to pray for me and the said Idonea late my wife who is buried there 100s.
To the high altar of the church of Apuldre 6s. 8d. To the work (opus) of the said church 13s. 4d. To the use and service of the same for the souls of my father and mother who are buried in the said church my good ‘missale’ bought from the executors of John Trygolow late my chapleyn.
To the high altar of Iuechirch 6s. 8d. To the work (opus) of the said church 40s.
To the high altar of Eldronmen [Old Romney] 6s. 8d., and to the work 13s. 4d.
To the high altar of Middele 6s. 8d. and to the work 13s. 4d. To the high altar of Roluenden 6s. 8d. and to the work 40s. To the high altar of Tenenden 6s. 8d. and to the work 26s. 8d. To the high altar of Sutton Valence 6s. 8d. and to the work 20s.
To Thomas Beneyt for long time my friend and servant 100s. To Henry Newlond of Brokelond my kinsman 40s. To Dom. William Audele my chapleyn 40s.
Residue to Agnes my daughter to make by sepulture &e and for my soul and the soules of Idonia and Margaret late my wives.
Agnes my daughter and Dom. William Audele, chaplain, and Thomas Beneyt to be my executors.
Given in my mansion in the forsaid parish of Saint Mary Matfelon Wednesday next after the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Anno Dom. 1410 and 11 Henry IV. (Latin)
Proved 1 October anno supradicto and on 15th October executors released. (P.C.C. 21 Marche)
