ROBERT ADANE of the parisshe of Challocke in Kent, 30 May 1558 (4 & 5 P & M). Yeoman. To be buried in churcheyarde of Challock. To high aulter 12d. To poore people within the saide parisshe at the tyme of my buriall 3s. 4d. To my wife Alice one blacke cowe and 6 ewes 2 little kettells 8 plattes and 4 dishes of pewter and my greatest brease potte savinge one my best bedde with two couerletts 4 payre of sheets of the best two blancketts one bolster and two pillowes, my best table cloth savinge one, two candlesticks of the best and one salt seller.
To my doughter Elizabeth 10s. To my doughter Joon 10s. [the name Joon appears to be struck through and Johane written in the margin].
To William Kenworth the sonne of Edward Kenworth of Challocke one lambe. To Benett Adane daughter of Walter Adane one lambe. Margaret Adane one other of the doughters of said Walter one lambe.
To my sonne Walter Adane one steere calf. To my sonne John Adane all rest of my goods and he to be executor and Richard Goteley ouerseer.
Last will: To my sonne Walter Adane my one peece parcell of lande and pasture called Eldresse of 7 acres in parish of Throwghly. If he decease then to John Adane my yongest sonne. To said Walter Adane fower tonne of Oken tymber (if he shalbe at anye tyme builde vpon the lande beofre by this my will vnto him given) to be hadd and taken in and upon my landes in Challocke. To the said John Adane all residewe of my landes &e in parishe of Challocke and Throughley. The said John shall permytte and suffer Alice my wife to have and peacably enioy all that one chamber in the southside of my tenement Inowe dwell in wt free accesse, egresse and regresse during her liffe and pay to the said Alice one annuytie or yerelie rent of 20s. 8d. [with power of entry in default].
