THOMAS HERUNDEN, dwellinge in
the parishe of Bocton Mownchilsey otherwyse callyd Bocton Quarrey in Kent.
4 August 1534. To be buried in xpen bryall. To high altar of Bocton 20d.
To Sir William Rudstone, curat of the saide parishe church 5s. To the
vycary of Loose iuxta Bocton 5s. To high aulter of Este Farley iuxta Loose
12d. Vnto William Herunden my sone my howse that stonythe besdies Loose
church I the wyche William Hercules, sherman, now dwellyth at a medowe
before Charlenton iuxta Loose Brooke, also a crofte lyinge by the house
and a pece of londe lyinge in the Este Farley callyd the Strete and a pece
of Woodelande joynyng to the same towardes the weste and £10 owte of the
house and landes of Pyknam otherwyse callyd Pykenstrett, as sone as he
come owte of prentyshepe, and for faulte of heires male to his brother
Edwarde and for lake of heires to next of the Kynne of the male of
Herundens.
To my sone John Herunden my howse callyd Pykenstret otherwyse callyd
Pyknam wt Lytell Knollfylde and great Knollfilde, Lyttel Combe and Great
Combe wt the banks and woodes belonginge to the same and 4 pecs of lande
joynynge to the howse in Pykynge Strete other wyse callyd Payknam and twoo
pecs of lande joynynge to the same towards the est callyd Peensfylde and
one pece of lande lyinge in Bocton forwardes the est callyd Stombybrede,
wt an acre and more of woodeland marks and bownes devided and shiste and
oon pece of Bromelande lyinge in the parish of Loosse towardes the northe.
And the said John shall not have nor enioye onny profetts &e vntyll
the tyme he come to the age of 32 (sic) yeres and assone as he shal come
vnto his lawfull age of 32 yeres he shall paye ouwte of his lands yerely
to his mother Elsabeth duryng hyr lyfe 16s. 8d.
Vnto Edwarde my sone my house and all the landes joynynge that I dwell in
in the parish of Bocton and all the quarryes except 4 roddes in lengthe
and 2 in bredethe the wyche I will that John my sone shall have, one pece
lyinge in the parishe of Bocton callyd dyche Rede. Also I will that
Edwarde my sone shall have two gardens callyd Bocton haundred gardens and
a pece of medowlande lying vppon Willington Den in the paryshe of Bocton
and a medowe lyinge vppon a Dean callyd Lodyngton in the parishe of
Magdeston and the said Edward
shall not have nor enioye onny parcell of lande vntyll the tyme he come to
the age of 30 yeres and then he shall pay vnto his mother Elsabeth durynge
hir lyfe 10s. yerely.
To Rycharde Skalonde a welshe fryse gowne. To euery of them that hathe
watchid wt me night and daye 6d. To the high aulter of Saynte Margaretts
churche in Westmyster 16d. To eyther of my 4 doughters £10 when 21. All
my indentures and leyses and bargaynes vnto Elsabeth my wyfe untyll the
tyme my children come vnto their age.
Executrice, my wyfe Elsabeth and John Clyffe of Este Farley, mason my
supervysoure to keep my wyfe in the sale of my stone and he to have for is
paynes takinge 13s. 4d., Thomas Burseide of the parishe of Lynton overseer
of my corne and cattall and husbandry.
In presence of Sir Henry Mott, curat of Saint Margaretts churche in
Westmynster William Forde and John Jonson.
