April 3 Henry VIII. To be buryede in the Abbey of Ledys in the Quyre
afore the high auter bequethyng to the sayde auter my beste tabill
clothe of diapr. To the saide Monastery and to the broders thereof a
standing Notte of syluer and gilt wt the Coveryng and 10s. yerely
granted to theym by a dede of Annuyte for ever observing the keping a
solempne dirrige wt the masse on the morow for the soule of William
Mongham my fader and Jone my moder my soule and all xpen soules.
To the chapell callede Bryge chapell my beste palyne tabull clothe for
an auter clothe. To euery preste being brother to the saide chapell to
pray for my soule 20d. To the monastery of Ledys my portos of parchement
there to be chaynnede at the disposition of myn executours.
To the parishe churche of Collyng my worste surpiles and 5s. to
reparacons of the chancell. To the parishe church of Charte a tabull
cloth of diapr next the best for an aulter cloth and a towell of diapr,
a Manywall, a Precessynall of prynte and 5s. towerdis the reparacons of
the body of the churche.
To the Chapell of or Lady of Grace wt in the Abbey of Rochester a tabull
cloth of diapr to be hallowede to make two aulter clothes, a corporas wt
the case od purpill velwet. To the churche of Assheforde my beste
corporas wt the case of clothe of golde and purpill velwet, my masse
boke, my chaleys, my veste-ment wt that that therevnto belongith.
To my good [god] daughter Mawdelyn Harlowe a fedderbed and a bolster
&e., 2 pannys, 2 spittes, 2 rakys of yoru, a water chafer, 6
platters, 6 dishes, 6 sawssers and a charger and a basyn of the siluer
facon, and another fayr bassone countersett, a syluer salte of the best
ouerede, a gobelet of siluer, 6 sponys of silver, my Flatt peace, 4
Candlestiks of the beste &e.
To my brother William Nungeham doughters egally 40s. and to oon of my
brothers childer or my susterys that is most apteste to lernynge all my
bookes. To Edwarde Barbett my godson a littill masser coverede and yf so
be that my saide god childern decesse thenne the said stuff to my
brothers and my susters childern.
To the College of Asheforde residue of my napery, brasse, lattyn and
pewetir.
My suster Hillton my beste bedys and my best Ryng. To Gryffyn Drakes my
lytill siluer salte wt the coveryng. Residue to Sr. Richard Wood my
parishe preste and William Whyfwande my cosyn my executors and Sir
Richard Woode to have the keping of all suche bequests as I have gevyn
to Mawdelyn Harllowe till she come to lawful age.
Last will: as touching my lands, my tenement in the parish of Seint
Margaret bysides Rochester to be solde and a preste to sing for my sould
and for the soules of William, Jone and Margaret the term of three hole
yeres, oon yere where my body lyes buryede and too yeres where my fader
and moder lyeth buryede and residue to the maryage of my goode doughter
Mawdelyn Herlowe.
