October 1536 WILLIAM WHITE, citizen and
letherseller of London, 17 October 1536. To be buried in Xpen buriall
where it shall please God to provide and ordeyn for me. My executrix
shall paye all suche detts and duties as I owe of right or of conscience
and after my goods shalbe devided into thre egall parts. One to
Elizabeth my after the laudable custome of the Citie of London. The
second to my children egally when 21 orells be maried. To the master and
wardeyns of the Feliship of Lethersellers of the Citie of London my blak
Nutte wt a couer and to the yomandry of the same crafte 6s. 8d. To
Margaret Algar the wife of James Algar grocer 40s. In almes to and
amonys poure people 40s. I bequeth 20s. to be bestowed in bredde and the
same to be distributed at severall tymes to and amongs pour prisoners in
prison howses of the twoo Counters, Ludgate and Newgate. Towards the
