18 November 1550 (4 Edward VI). Sir James Wylford, Knight, being very weake feeble and sicke. To be buried at discretion of my executrice. My welbeloved wyf Dame Joice, for the paynes that she hath taken with me as well afore as nowe in this my sickness shall have £500 to be employed for the better mayntenaunce of her lyving and after her disceas to my sonne Thomas. Two hundred marks to the fynding of my doughter Elizabeth and to remain to my son Thomas. My wyf to pay 20 marks by yere to the somme of 200 marcs to the mariage of my doughter Judith.
My said wife to have of my goods £233. 6. 8. for the terme of 14 yeres and then to remain to my sonne Thomas. She shall pay to John Glastock my seruant 40s. yerely during the 14 yeres. I most humblie desire my singler good father to be good to my wyf and children. And whereas diverse reconyngs heretofore have been betwene my said father and me wherof ther hath been one accompte made by reason whereof some occasion of vnkindnes might growe betwene my said father and my executrice for the avoiding whereof now at this present I being very sicke feble and weke declare that there is nothing due to my said father but that I have expended and laid oute more about his busynes and by his comaundement than I have receyed. Yet nevertheles if this my declaracon shall not satisfie my said father theren then I will my especiall good frende Sir John Baker Knight, chauncelour of the xth and my vncle Nicholas Wylforde to here the said reconynge and accompt between my father and my wyf whereby there may be a quiet ende therein hadd.
I give to my said father two nests of bolls three gilt wth a couer and three white plaine without a couer, two square saltes parcell gilt without a couer and all my spones being at Hertrige and £50 and my signet of gold.
To my nice Cicely Digneley toward her mariage £20 and if she die to my suster Constans her mother. To my brother Clerk £10 to the mariage of one of his doughters. To my brother Sidenham £20. To my boye William Haler for his service doon to me £25. To Sir. Philip Hoby, Knight a white harnes grauid which was Charles de Gavans. To my wyfe dame Joice all such plate as I have here at London and the rest
of my plate at Hertrige.
Residue to Dame Joice whom I make my soole executrice and ouerseers Sr. John Baker, Sir Thomas Wyat Knight my father Mr. Thomas Wylford and my vncles Mr. John Wylford and Nicholas Wilford.
