16 September 1527. John Curtop of Cranebroke, clothier. To be buried in xpen buriall where it shall please God. Towards the werks and reparacions of the said church £5. To a prest of good and honest conversacion to singe divine (service) in or. Lady chapell within the said parishe chirch by the space of two yeres and eche yere X marcs, and I will that Sir Fraunces my fathers prest yf he will shall sing. To my cosyn Sr. Richard Colyer prest a conusnient gown cloth of 5 yards. To Elizabeth my wife oon hundred pounds in money, all my plate, juells and stuff.
To euery of my doughters, Joane, Anne, Alice and Mary £20 – sum £80 – to thym at their full age of 21 or mariage.
My two sonnes Jheram and Thomas to have the same in default. To Elizabeth my wife my executrice and Alisaunder my eldest sonne.
This is the last will: of lands in Cranebroke, Maidstone and Wodchurch. My mesuage that I dwell in called Wardes in the towne and parishe of Cranebroke which I had of the gyfte of my father and my pece of londe there called Newe Marlyng to remayn to Elizabeth my wife, then to Alisaunder myn eldest son. In default to John my secunde sonne and then to James my thirde sonne, and then to Jeram my fourth sonne, and to Thomas my youngest sonne. In default to my brother Richard Curtop with remainder to my brother Petir and then William Curtop my brother and then to my right heirs.
I will my fullyng mille and londs in Maidstone to Elizabeth my wife until John my sone come to 22. In default to Alysaunder my sonne [and so on to the others].
Londs in Wodchurche I late bought of Fourds widowe to Elisabeth my wife to the tyme my son James come to age of 22 yeres and when 22 then I will my said Trenche of lond called Redeford to remayne to the said James.
