4 August 1524, Thomas Colyar
of the parish of Cranebroke. To be buried in our Lady chauncell within
the church of Cranebroke. I bequeth unto the newe making of the said
church of Cranebroke £20 forthwith the parte thereof as they have
receyved alredy. I bequeeth ten pounds towards the bying of a Tabull* to
serve for our Lady awter in the forsaid chauncell with the condicion
that the parishens of Cranebroke wil bye it or pay the rest.
To John Cochman, Alexander Kent and Thomas Colyar my godsonnes to euery
of them 12d.
I will have mass for an hole yere and £10 for an

Benet my wife my instuffe and all my plate and a dozen silver sponys and
after her decesse to Roger and Richard my sonnes oon doseyn and to Agnes
and Alice my doughters other half doseyn. After decesse of said Benet,
Robert my sonne shalhave my salt of siluer.
To the mariage of Agnes Clampard and Benet Cocheman my servaunts 40s.,
they to continue with Benet my wife vnto the tyme of their mariage. To
Joane Colyer my seruaunt 6s. 8d. To Stevyn Colyer my brother my Russet
gowne and a doblet of fustian that John Gray made. To William Colyar my
brother a marble gowne lying at London. To Henry Colyar my brother my
best cote of marble. To Dorathe Carkeregg my suster 10s.
Residue I will that Laurence Cocheman thelder, Robert Colyar and Richard
Dens shal have the demynacion and custody therof to pay my detts &e
and charges as I have taken the charge coucernyng vnto the wills of
Thomas Cowper and of his fader. They to be executours and Thomas Foster
ouerseer.
Last Will: Above feoffes shall suffer Benett my wife to have and occupie
my mesuage and gardyn at Milkhouse sumtyme Godfreys where John Graye now
occupieth and also those ferme lands whiche Laurence Carkeregg now
occupieth. Also Robert Colyar my sonne my principall mesuage where I
nowe dwell and my other mesuage where Richard Geffreys now dwellys and
mesuage I late bought of John Frankelyn, when he comyth to 26 yeres,
which said Robert was at Mydsomer last past before this present date 19
yeres of age. Also he shall have the Barkehouse and the implements to
the same also the two lomes in the shopp walmaner [?with all manner] of
harnes and implements to the same lom belonging.
My feoffes shall occupie all my lands in the parish of Goutherst and the
lands lying upon the Denne of Horden and the lands late Payfords till
Roger Colyar my sonne come to the age of 20 yeres and then to receive
the profitts till he come to 26 and then to be delivered to him.
My mesuage and landes at Possez Crosse, the mesuage at Mylkhouse which
Thomas Symon nowe ocupieth and ferme lands at Gulfford and a mesuage and
gardyn and three pecs of lond at Plusshingherst which Wm. White nowe
occupieth and lands late was Schevys and a litill house and gardyn at
Glastynbury which Gilbert Fernal nowe occupieth, to Richard Colyar my
son when 20 (and to receive profits till 26 and then take over) the said
Richard my sonne shalbe 14 yeres of age at the feast of Alhalowen next
after this present date.
Stevyn Colyar my borther the mesuage, gardyn and five pecs of lande in
Stapelherst which he now occupieth till Richard my sonne cometh to 20
yeres.
I will that all vse, right title &e in the londs, tenements, mylle
and pond I bought of Raynold Carter be equally divided betwene my sonnes.
To Margery Cowper 6s. 8d. Dorathe my doughter shall remayn again vnto
hir owne lands and my executors to pay all hir husbands detts and
charges both of the olde wille of Robert Cowper and of the newe wille of
Thomas Cowper late hir husbounde.
Benet my wif and the said Dorathe shalhave tenne loods of wood every
yere in Angley while they be widowes.
Richard Raynold my servaunt 13s. 4d.
Robert Foster Shalhave forgevyn £7 whith condicion that Thomas Foster
his fader put in sufficent swertie in lands vnto my said executours.
Also the said Thomas Colyar willed and said that Wm. Weller had bought
his house at Milkhouse.
In presence of Thomas Foster, Richard Robyn, Robert Foster, Benet Colyar,
Dorathe Carkeregg and Dorathe Cowper.
