9 Aprill 1509, Richard Pende of Cranebroke. To be buried in the church of Cranebroke bifore the aulter of Seynt Gilys. To the reparacion of the said church for the brekyng of the grownde for my sepultur 6s. 8d. To high aulters of Cranebroke, Hawkherst and Tyseherst 20d each. To reparacion of Church of Cranebroke 20s. and of Saleherst 6s. 8d. To the herse light of Cranebroke 4d. To the light bifore thymage of or. Lady in the Northe Chauncell 12d. To light bifore thymage of Seynt Clement 4d. To the edifying of a chapell in the southside of the church of Cranebroke bifore the aulter of Seynt Gilys 6 marke. An honest preest to syng and to pray for my soule in the said chapell for an hole yere 10 marks. To parish church of Haukherst 10s. to bye a booke callid a processionall. To my owte burying V marcs, to my moneths day 5 marcs, to my yeres mynde 40s. To my twoo yers mynde 20s.
To Denys Dence 20s. To Agnes Dence 20s. To Richard Dence 6s. 8d. To Joyce my doughter 40s. To mendying of the high wey betwene Hartley and Dunstans capsse 26s. 8d. To mending of the wey betwene Hartley and Tryndley 6s. 8d., and betwene Sampsons and the lane ende to Hartleyward 6s. 8d. To poore peopill wt in Cranebroke euery yere 20 yeres the brede of a busshell off whete to be geven oon Friday in lent season. To Johane my wife all stuff of household she brought vnto me. Rest to Joyce my doughter. Residue to John Pende, Robert Pende, William Pende and Richard Pende my sonnes and they to be executors and George Longherst of Haukherst and Wm. Borden of Hedcron ouerseers.
Last Will: My feoffes Wm. Crotynden of Brenchesley, John Carkeregge, Wm. Portreve, Edward Fowle and Stephen Bisshopp of Cranebroke, to deliver a state to Robert Pende my son of 2 peces of lond in Haukherst vpon the den of Sesely which I purchased of Lawrence Hartknop of Haukherst in fee symple, and said Robert shal have the said two peces aboue the shift of myn othr londs wt. his brethren.
If William Warde of Sandeherst pay £10 after my decesse then my feoffees to make a state to him of a pece of land in Sandherst and Joyce my doughter to have the £10 to hir mariage.
If George Longherst pay 20 mark my feoffees to make a state in all the lands I purchased of Thomas Congherst his fader. If Jamys Portreve do pay 20 mark within six yeres then my feoffees to make a state to him of two peces of lond which I purchased of him bitwene his house and the myll lane of 7 acres.
To Joyce my doughter 40s. levied of a pece of lond in parish of Fretynden and other 40s. levied of the said pece of lond the which I late purchased of John Boxe of Fretynden.
To refreschyng of poore people and my neighbour of Hartley during the space of 20 yeres ----
In presence of George Congherst, Edmunde Congherst, John Carkeregge, Wm. Cretynden, Edward Fowle and other moo.
Proved 14 May 1509 by John, William , Robert and Richard Pende executors. (P.C.C. 17 Bennett)
