ELIZABETH HELY, late of Maydstone [Maidstone], widowe, 29 September 1558 (5 & 6 Philip and Mary). To be buried where yt shall stande wt goddes good pleasure. To poore of the parishe of Seynt Lawrence Poulkneye in London £4 at the daye of my burial. To poor prysoners wt in the gaole of the Towne of Maydstone 40s., at discrecon of Henry Fyssher and William Tylden of Maydstone. To the vse and behoue of the Towne of Maydstone 40s. vpon the mendinge and Repayringe of the leades, pypes and stonework of the condyte thear standinge to be paied by my executor assone as he shalbe credible enformed and certified by the said Henry or William together wt my sonne in lawe Thomas Hely of the same Town they have disbursed the said some.
To John Hylles, Gerson Hylles, Barnabas Hills and Dayell Hills, five sonnes of Richard Hills my sonne, citizen and marchaut taylor of London £100 equally to be shisted, and all my plate. If all die before 21 then to Richard my sonne theyre father.
To women and maydens of myne owne Kyndred
all myne apparell by Jone Boothe wif of John Bothe of London, merchaunt taylor.
And wheras the aboue Thomas Hely and William Tylden of Maydestone do nowe owe vnto me the sole executrix of my late husbande Rychard Helys will the some of £55 I do frely give the saide some vnto the maisters, governours and Treasourers of late erected hospitalls of Christchurch in London and of Seint Thomas in Southwerke.
I will William Salkyns and Thomas Langton, factours for my saide sonne Richard Hills shall have the occupienge eche of them of £100 for two yeares.
To William Peterson of London, haberdassher and his wif a golde ringe. To John Snatt my late seruaunte £4. To Elizabeth Mason my mayde seruaunte 20s. To Cristiane wif vnto John West of Maydestone mercer 20s. To John Kember, widowe, attendaunte to me in my sickness 10s. To Elizabeth Barnwell 10s.
I will my executors within three monethes
shall distribute amongst the most porest moost nedyest and myserablest of the men women and children which were this yere expelled out of the Towne and marches of Calice £33. 6. 8.
Residue amongst all myne owne bloode and kynred and Johanne Boothe shall receyve for her parte £5 and her susters children £7.
Executor: Richarde Hills and my trustie frende Willyam Peterson of London haberdassher and John Bothe of the same citie merchauntaylor overseers.
Witnes: Owen Clonne, Thomas Atkynson, James Bygge, Richard Alerton.
