THOMAS HAYTE, senyor, of Maidestone, yeman, 18 April 1548. To be buried in the churche yarde of All Santes in Maydeston wt oute anny supersticious ceremonyes. To the poore people £4 viz at my buriall 20s., wt in one yere 20s. and so to continewe yerelie vntill the £4 be fullye paide.
Unto Thomas Hayte and Walter Hayte my sonnes these thinges next in suynage wch remayne and be in my howse wherein I nowe dwell that is to saye the Cupbourde, Table fourmes and paynted clothes in thaule, the pothangers there, the cidre presse and all the fatts, implements and vessels vnto the same presse belonginge, the lead, the greater gryndston, the ladders, the plancks, bourdes, polles, lathes, tyles and the host here nowe in the foresaide howse, vppon condycon they paie the foresaid £4.
Vnto Gregorie Marshall sonne of Jone Marshall my doughter these thinges that be in my saide dwellinge howse: the best fetherbedde complte, the chest at my beddes fote, the great bras pott, the second brass panne, the best bason and ewer, the best charger, twoo of my best platters, twoo of my best pewter dishes and sawcers and two of my best Candelstickes.
I will the foresaide Joane his mother have the custodye vnto the said Gregorie do accomplish thage of 21 yeres.
To Agnes Homes my seruaunte the longe chest whiche nowe standithe besides my beddes head and suche somes of moneye as is owynge vnto me by one Richarde Hoggen of Maideston.
To the said Thomas and Walter my sonnes that 13s. 4d. which is owing by one Edmunde Jenyngs and 14s. by one Moyses Wydowe of Pensherste.
To Thomas Haite my sonne and Fraunces Harris my sonnes in lawe all residue and revercion of yeres that is yet to come which I have of and in all that one Gryndeston Myll at Towell in the parishe of Maideston they to pay £20 viz to Agnes Homes in consideration of and for her 6 yeres service £5.4. To my childrenes children whiche are lyvinge euery of them 20s. To above Walter Hayte my sonne 20s. To Johane Marshall 40s. To Joane of Bellfren my seruaunte 20s. and residue of the £20 to Fraunces Harry and one John Wardell of the towne of Rie, marchaunte vpon condicon that the saide John Wardell do marye and take to wif the aforesaide Joane Marshall my doughter. In wch case I make the saide John Wardell and Fraunces Harrye executours and Thos. Gower of Maideston, yeman, supervisour and residue of my goodes to thuse of my childrens children and the abouesaid Joane of Bellfrey.
Last will: of all my landes wch I have in fee simple. I will the above named Agnes Homes shall have free dwellinge in my tenement at Saint Faithes playne in Maideston duringe the terme of 16 yeres and after to Gregorie Marshall. If he deceas to Joane Marshall my doughter.
To Gregorye Marshall my orcharde called Hope lande gardeyne in the parishe of Maideston and my interest in one pece of lande nowe in tenure of one Edward Bosom and the foresaide Johane Marshall shall have the proffites vntill the said Gregorie come to thage of twelve yeres. If he die then to Walter Hayte my sonne.
To Joane Marshall my twoo litle tenements at Wickstreet in Maidestone wch late I purchased of one Wm. Lee, esquire. To Fraunces Harrye and Elizabeth his wife one tenement and gardeyne at Wickstrete in Maidestone wherin John Rucke dwellith now and to remain vnto Joane Harrye my goddoughter and if she decease vnto Katherine Harrye her sister.
