JOHN BEAWLEY of the parish
of Maidstone 21 September 1526. To be buried w tin the parishe churche
of Alhalowes in Maidstone in the body of the church before the Rood. To
the rode light in Woldam church 3s. 4d. To the light of our Lady in our
Lady chauncell in the said churche 12d., and to the light of Saint
George in the said church 4d. and to Saint Martyns light in the said
church 4d., to the light of Saint Antony in the said church 4d. and to
Saint Roche light in the church aforesaid of Woldam 4d.
To my doughter Dorathy to hir mariage £5. 13. 4 and to my doughter
Margaret the same. If they departe owt of this worlde then to Margaret
my wife. To my sonne John the yonger nowe being prentice in London my
best gowne. To Thomas my sonne my gowne lyned wt wosted. Residue vnto
Margaret my wife, soole executrice. Ouerseer, Edward Asshe. Testes
in premissis Magr. Thos. Nyghtingale, curatus de Maidstone, Willms. Dey,
Willmus Fase, Walterus Davys, Henricus Camberleyn.
Last will (same date): of my londes and tenements in parishes of Woldam,
Burgham and Aylesford. I will John Culpeper gent, Edward Asshe, gent,
and William Norman my feoffees shall enfeffe Margaret my wife in all my
manor called Seler wt all londes and tenements Courte Baron, rents and
services wt appurts. in parishes of Woldam, Burgham and Aylesford and
after the decesse of the foresaid Margaret to remayn to my next heires.
I will Wm. Norman my sool feoffe make a laufull astate vnto Margaret my
wife in all my tenements in Halling late Roger Bakes and in 3½ acres in
Hallyng somtyme Roger Cooks and oon acre in Snodland I bought of Water
Luke and a tenement wt a rood and a half of londe I bought of John
Holywell and a rood of londe in the parsonage felde in Snodland I
bought of John Lylly and in the reversion of 3 acres in Byrlyng late
John Walters and in two half acres of londe I bought of John Potkyn and
Roger at Mede in Woldamfelde to theutent she shall sell them toward the
mony bequethed for the mariage of Dorathe and Margaret my doughters.
I will John myn eldest sonne have the occupation of profits of two
tenements in Woldam called Chalks and Isacks, paying to the chief lords
of the fee that of right is due.
On 9th February 1526 administration of goods &e of John
Beawley deceased ‘per viam intestati’ (because the executrix named
in his testament "ab hae luce migravit" before she had
assumed the execution of the will), to Richard Bere he being sworn
