STEVYN DUNMOWE of Maydestone [Maidstone], 3 October 1524. To be buried in the churchyarde of All Saynts of Maydstone on the south side next vnto the buriall of Agnes my wife decessed. To the crosselight 12d. To the light of Corpus Xpi 12d., and of Jesus 12d. 26s. 8d. in diriges, masses and charitable almes for the welthe of my soule and all xpen soules and at my monethes day and yeres mynde 20s. and two trentalls to be saide oon at Gylforth and another at Mottynden. Residue vnto Elizabeth my wife, executrix.
Where it is so that of late daies I bergeyned wt oon Stevyn Mason, vyntener of London for the place I dwell in with a nother tenement, vpon certeyn payment as £6. 13.4. be evyn porcions at four quarters as I ment and was my couenaunt, he nowe coutrarying my saide mynde and entent will not agree to paye the said some but saith that I otherwise agreed with him, as in this caas I do recorde and testefy as I will answere afore God that yf I saide otherwise payne did cause me and lack of good mynde, wherfor it is my mynde as it was than except he content and paye me according vnto my mynde and couenaunts 10 marcs yerely by egall porcions he shall neuer enioye it but have ayegn suche money as he hath laide vpon it and I will make the best shifte that I canne, this to be of trouth as I take God to Recorde.
