JOHN SWEHAM of Maidestone [Maidstone] 24 August 1501. To be buried in churchyarde of Allehalowen in Maidstone beside my fader. To the gilting of Alhallows 6s. 8d. To light of oure Lady Ile 4d. To light of Saint Thomas 4d. To Trinite light 4d. To Saint Georgs light 4d. To the light of Saint Cristofer 4d. To the bielding of Saint Annys chapell at the Rode of Grace 40d [Boxley]. To be doon for my soule, my faders and my moders soules my belsers and my beldames soules and alle xfen soules euery yere yerely for 10 yeres 10s.
To Richard my son my grettest brasse pot &e.
To Margaret my wiff all the stuff of my houshold not bequeithed and after her decesse that she levith shalbe devided to my three children.
To Richard my son my grettest shippe [ship] called the John of Maideston, except to my wiff the fourth part, to that intent that she shall see that the said shippe be lawfully kept as she ought to be.
To John my son my shippe called the Trinitee except to William Boston the fourth parte and the said William to be good housebond to both the said shippes to ouirsee them that they be lawfully repaired and my wif and the said William shall make theire accompts to myn ouirseer every yere for the behoof of our children till they com to lawfull age. To the marriage of Alys my doughter 20 marcs.
Executors, Margarete my wif and Robert Laurens, Maister Heed to be myn ouirseer. Witness: Sir Thomas Nicols than parissh preest, Richard Weston, Wm. Boshen.
Last will: My feoffees to suffre Margaret my wif to have my tenement, gardeyne, pece of land and berne in the parish of Maideston the which I dwell in now for terme of his lif and then unto my sones and if they decesse to Alys my doughter.
