WILLIAM HALLE, die mercurii in Commenoracione anim arum, Anno domini 1500. My soul to God, Almighty, the blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Michael, Saints and Martyrs Margaret, Katherine, Magdalene and to All Saints. To be buried in the chapel of the Blessed Mary in the north part in the collegiate church of All Saints of Maidestone [Maidstone]. I leave to the lights in that church 2s. 8d. To four poor men carrying my body to sepulture a black gown and they to hold four torches. To poor men and women (adults) and prisoners in Maidestone each 2d. Two chaplains that is of the Chantry and Fraternity of Corpus Xpi 16d at my sepulture. 
To high altar of the church of St. Michael of Merden 3s. 4d. To the lights of the Blessed Virgin Mary and other saints in that church 3s. according to instructions in custody of Master John Cambreton. To poor of Merden 2d. each. To the sacrist of the church of Merden 8d. I leave to Brother William Arnolde, Prior of the Carmelites of Aylesford to celebrate a great trentall of St. Gregory for a whole year £9.
I wish gowns ‘de le partie frise’ viz black and white to be prepared for 16 men and 10 women, poor, half of them from Maideston and half from Merden annually with the money of the reversion of the manor of Merden, to be received from Peter Shakway of the County of Lancaster.
Residue at the disposal of Master John Cambreton, S.T.P., and Laurence Leche of Maideston.
Witnesses Dom. John Wiralle, Master John Halsnoth notary public.
