14 Feb, Henry VIII. Johane Downe of Yalding, widowe.
To be buried at discrecion of extour and overseer. I will that fyve mases be
sayd at the daie of my buryall of the whiche one to be sayd by the curate of
the same parishe in the whiche I shall happen to be buryed and he to have for
his paynes vijd and every other of the preests vjd. My
monethes mynde and yeres mynde to be kept and done after suche sorte as my
extour shall thinke good.
To por people dwelling or abyding in Yalding 20s and
as moche brede and mete and drynke as by my extour shalbe thought convenyent.
To John Downe of Beltryng half a dosen of pewter platters and
dishes and foure sylver spones. To Johane Downe my doughter my gowne purpfled
with otter and my best wursted kyrtle. To Thos Downe of Yalding
aforsaid Tanner two sylver spones.
To Johane Gate doughter of Margret Gate my doughter 40s at
her maryage. To Joane Nashe my blake gowne purfled with shanks. To the wyfe of
----- Gore of Yalding my blacke gowne lyned with buckeram. To Agnes Coteman my
krytle of blacke clothe.
Residue to John Downe of London grocer my sone whome I make
extour and George Multon of Estpeckham (East Peckham) overseer.
Witnesses George Moulton and Robert Moulton.
Probate 15 Feb 1541 by John Downe exor.
