3 April 1527. Thomas Sewell, Canon Resedenciar and Stagiar in the Cathedrall churche of Saint Powle in London. To be buried in the churchyarde of the Cathedrall Churche without the west ende of the said churche nygh unto the Crosse there. I will that every Canon Resident and Stagiary of Powlys being present at my buriall and masse shalhave 2s and every other Canon of the said churche twenty pens and every pety canon 16d and every chantry prest 16d, every other inferior minister of the said churche 12d. Among por people the day of my buriall 6/8. Item: over and above that I will that eche of the two bell Ryngers that is to say William Bell and Henry Turnor shalhave to pray for my soule 6/8.
   To my next successour in my benefice of Laborne (Leybourne) in the dioc. of Rochester tenne pounds with all my beddes, brasse and all other my houshold stuffe there in full contentacion and satisfaccon of the tyme decaies or dilapidacion of the said benefice and in caase the said succesur will not be contented with this my exor to have all this aforenamed stuffe.
   To my next successour in the Penytenciary Chauntry and Prebende therto belongyng all the hangyng of my house, tabills, trestills, stolys, bedsteds and all my boks of lawe soo that he will be contented therwith for dilapidacion orells myn extour to have all the aforenamed stuffe.
   Where there is owe or shalbe certeyn money due to me by the Churche of Powlys in London as by statuts ordynucs, custumes and accomfits of the said Churche may appere I will that shalbe distributed as folowith: To Batilmewe Petir my servunt and kynnesman £3.6.8. To Sir John Griffith my chaplayn 40s and every oon of my servunts that is to witt Richd Ferrer, Nicolas Mercer, John Dowman, Jn Laurence 40s. To eche oon of the thre virgers in Powlls 20s to pray for my soule. I will that the Chamberleyn alle tyme being shall distribute at his discrecion £5 of the money due to me of the church at my yeres mynde and have for his labor 6/8. I will the Chamberleyn than being and maister Doctor Wharton Chauncellor of London distribute and dispoase all the residue of the money owing to me in the churche of Powlls for the helth of my soule. I will that John Shawe my Coke have his quartre wagis after my death. I will every oon of my servunts undre written have a bedde complete soo that Bartilmewe Petir my kynnesman have the best and Richd Ferror the secunde Sir Griffith the thirde, Nicolas Mercer the iiijth, John Dowman the vth, John Laurence the vjth and Henry Baker the vijth.
   All my napery ware the stuf of my buttry and pantry with my brasse, pewter and laten and almaner of stuff throrowe my kechyn be devided in vj eguall parts and after dyvision so made I will that Bartilmew Petir chose for himselfe the first [and so on to the others].
   I geve to Sir John Griffith my chapleyn the werks of Saint Ambrose and my thirde best surplaies, to Niclas Mercer the werks of Saint Jerom and Saint Gregory. To Sir Niclas Dyer the werks of Saint Augustyne, To Sir Thomas Dier the blak frere the werks of Crisostomns and the ordynary glose. Item:
   Item: I geve to my church of Laborne forsaid a legent boke, two antiphones, a masseboke, a manuell, a processionall, a Crosse of ?coss and gilded and my best secunde surplaies.
   To the Chauntry prests of Petir College a hoggished of wyne. To Doctor Wharton, Chaunceler of London a hoggished of redde wyne.
   Residue to Bartilmewe Petir my kynnesman whom I constitute ordeyn and make the hole exor and Doctor Wharton supervisor. Wit. Sir John Griffith prest, John Dowman, Richd Ferror, Nicholas Mercer and John Laurence.
   Probate in eccl. Cath dini Pauli London 12 April 1527 by exor.
