Richard Herenden 10 Dec 7 H8. of the parissh of West Farlegh in Kent. To be buryed within the chirche of West Farlegh. To high auter 3/4. To the church of Stapleherst 3/4. To the mayntennce of the lights within the churche of West Farlegh 12d. To the paynting of Saint Cristofer 10s. An honest prest to syng within the seid parissh churche for my soule, the soules of my fader and moder and all cristen soules an hole yere 10 mrc.
   To every woman servunt within my house 20d.
   I will that Sr Thos Nevyle, Knight and all other my feoffes to my use deliver to Margery my wyff my messuage and tenement called Saynden with all the londs, wods, gardeyns etc. upon the dennys of Seynden and Assherst for terme of her lyf and also I will that Margery my wyf have ij pecs of land and a wod lying upon the Denne of Folshot called the Marlyngs and the Mede. Also a wood called Sharndenyswood lying upon the denne of Scharnden conteignying 26 acres, also all my lands and tenements, gardeyns etc. within the parisshe of West Farlegh for terme of hir lyff and to remayne to Edward my sonne and his heires in Fee. Also to Margery my wif all those yeres I have in West Farlegh Court and remayne to Edward my sonne and if he dye then I will it remayn to Thomas Chapman and Barbara his wyff and if they both dye to my eldest doughter being on lyve.
   To said Margery all my goods etc. to paye all my detts and bequests. First to my brother John £20 bequethed hym by the last wyll of my Fathyr that is to sey within foure yeres after my mother in lawes decesse yerely £5. Also I will that my wyff kepe to scole Edward my sonne till he come to his age of 15 yeres and then I will she bynd hym prentise in London to some honest craft tyll he comyth to his age of 23 yeres and when he cometh out of his prentishode I wyll she shall deliver hym £20 and my hoope Ryng of gold and if he mary his mothyr levyng I wull she delyver hym my standyng cuppe of silver and glt and if he doo not to have it after hir decesse. Also I will that if my wyff leve whan my doughters come to the age of 20 yere she shall make for every of them a Ryng of gold of 20s a pece and gyff them to remembr my soule and to be maryed by hyr discrecion.
   If Edward my sonne decesse befor his mother my lands and tenements after the decesse of my wyff shall remayne to John Herenden and Stephyn Herenden my brethren with this condicon that they paye to the performance of the last will of Margery my wyff £20 and £40 to Elsabeth and Jone my doughters bitwen them and also John and Stephyn to paye to Elisabeth Herenden my suster £10.
    To my suster Besse the day of hir mariage 10 marks. To Richd Packe a cowe and 4 eweys. To Water Pett a seame of whete. To every of John Lurker, Wm Bregger, ---- Hyder 6/8. To Pocoke 20d. To every myn apprentice John Jobson, Jn Chapman and Richd Tylle -------.
   I will Margery my wyff pay unto my brothyr Thos Parker yerely duryng his liff 20s and mete and drynk.
   To my brother John Herenden my gown furred with foynes and my gown furred with fox and all my harnesse and my gyld colt. To Thomas Kyng my gown furred with black. To Olyver Wenyngton ------. I will that if my lord Clynton wyll not graunt to Thos Kynge the keping of the ? of Hunton with a resonable Fee duryng his lyff that Margery my wyff paie unto the said Thos Kyng 13/4 yerely with at condicion that the seyd Thos will doo hir some service.
   To my brother Johns wyff a ryng wrethid of gold for a tokyn. If it fortune my movable goods will not perfourme my will myn exors selle all suche lands etc. I have purchased if the parisshe of West Farlegh and 20s worth land by yere in Stapylherst.
   I will Margery my wyff take the issues etc. of V pecs of land lying upon the denne of Folshot called Broks and Benetts and also 3 pecs of land and wood called the Brooke Thounsfeld and Rye graunted for terme of hir lyff by cause I the seid Richd Herenden hathe payed for a prest singyng one yere in the parisshe churche of Stapylhurst according to the wyll of my Father and also paied his detts accordyng to his last will and after the decesse of the seid Margery I will it remayne to Edward my son.I will Margery my wyff make a vestment of my cote of white damaske and to gyffe it to the chirche of West Farlegh.
  To every of my doughters Elisabeth and Joone to ther mariages £20.
   I will all the lands and goods I have in my kepyng of Richard Brekendyns to Margery my wyff til his childer come to their age as in the wyll of the seid Richard Brekendyns plainly appereth upon condicion she fynde his children accordyng to the seyd wylle.
   I will all other things be ordered by Margery my wyff, John Herenden my brother and my cosyn Robt Lambe and my ?cosyn John Applyard whome I make exors and Sr Thos Nevell, Knight overseer.
   To my son Thos Chapman a litell owche of gold. To my brother Water Harenden a ryng of gold price 20s. To my son Thomas Chapman an alman Revett with ?splents and salet ynto and my litle whyte horne. To John Applyard my wod knyff.
   Probate 28 May 1516 by Margery relict.
