Last day of May 1505. John Willarde the elder of the parisshe of Lyghe (Leigh) in Kent yoman. To be buried in the churche of our lady of Lyghe. To the high awter 3/4, to the high awter in the parisshe churche of Tonbrigge 3/4. To the Cathedrall Churche in Rochester 4d.
   To John Clifton and Thos Clifton my god childern 3/4. To my godson John Willarde 6/8. To his suster Elzth Willarde 3/4. I will that Hugh Dukworthe and Johane his suster my godchildern either of them xxd.
   I will myn exors shall fynde or doo to be founde ij tapers of wax to brenne before the ymage of our Lady in the churche of Lyghe every fest full day at the devyne service and each as they nede to be renewed and so contynued by myn exors to the ende and terme of X yeres complete after my decesse. and if myn exors fortune to dye and departe of this worlde then I will whosoever shall dwell in my place callid Pawlis place in the parisshe of Lighe shall well and feithfully upholde and maynten the said ij tapers duryng the yeres and tyme before seid. To the mendyng of the high wey betwene Lyghe and Stocks grene xls. Toward the repacion of the chapell of Seynt Thomas in Lyghe xls.
   To the warkes of ye Roode lofte in the same churche of Lyghe 26/8 and 13/4 toward a vestment in the said churche of Ligh. Also a honest preest secular well disposed shall syng and reede and helpe to almaner divine service in the church of Lighe for the helth of my soule and for the soules of my wiffs Alice and Johane and for the ? bodely and gostly and Johane my wif and for the soule of Johane Shevyning my parent soules and all Cristen soules the space of an hole yere and for his salary X marc. I beg 40s towarde the mendyng of the South side of the church in the said Ligh.
   My feoffes of all my londes that is to say John Bisshope, Wm Caper, Robert Bisshope and John Tybold shall suffer Johane my wif peasebly to entre of and in all my londs and take and recyve yerely all maner proffits etc, that is to say of and yn my tenement callid Powlys and Claydons and all suche londs as I late purchaced of Bartilotts and all the londs I late purchased of Richd Gillwyn and of and in 3 pecs lond I late purchased of Roger Lewkens and 3 pecs of medew land I purchased late of Ric Lewkens lying in Lymonds medew duryng the time of her lif naturall under condicon that Johane my wif shall susteyne mayntn and fynde hir childern and myn conveiyently as they ought to be found.
   Also I will my iiij doughters that is to sey Sibella, Godliffe, Elizabeth and Agnes shall have to their mariges my tenement callid Bryghtis with appurts. in the parisshes of Lyghe and Seale with viij pecs of land callid the Vyndis and a pond callid the Mille pound [sic] and ij pecs of land I late purchased of Olyver Dowle lying in Seale to be devided amongs the said 4 susters in fee symple. If any dye than hir porcion to the other iij and if ij of them fortune to dye then I will my doughter Sibella shall have that secunde susters parte with hir owne and if 3 dye then the 4th suster have the hole in fee symple.
   Also I will after my decesse Thomas Mordeyn shall have my lond lying in the Sowthe Borowe of Tonbrigge payng therfore £20 unto my son John Willard. Also my feoffes deliver a state in fee symple to John Willard my son of and in all my londs and tenements in the parisshe of Grensted (is probably Cransted which is an old borough of Somerden near Bough Beech, recently lost) and a parcell of land callid Hayfeld in parisshe of Tonbrige and in 3 parcells of land callid Pettland in parisshe of Lygh and a aprcell of lond callid Mustells medow in parisshe of Tonbrige. Also a messuage and gardyn and a crofte in the towne of Tonbrige purchased of Richd Deede and a barne with a gardyn and a house adiuncte therto sett in Tonbrigge townys ende sumtyme callid Grubbis.
   Also a pece of land callid Brocks in Hellden late purchased of Jamys Shevyning and a messuage in the parisshe of Chedyngston late purchased of the said Willm Chevynyney, the said John payng unto Johane my wif yerely duryng hir life 13/4 or ells I will the said Johane at all tymes strayne in the said londs for lake of noon payment. Also I will after my decesse and the decesse of Johane my wif my feoffes shall deliver unto Richard Willard my sone a state in fee symle of and in my londs and tenements with appurts. callid lacys [indistinct] in the parisshe of Tonbrige and a pece off land callid Holyngden medow in the parisshe of Lyghe and a crofte that was sumtyme John Wellis lying by Honwolds gate in Holyngden.
   Also the lands callid Walesse lands lying in the parisshe of Tonbrigge and a tenement with appurts. callid Swannes and certeyn parcells of land late purchased of John Affane callid Keppis in parisshe of Tonbrige and a medow and all my londs of and in the medow land callid Ramhirst in the parisshe of Lyghe. Also my land callid Angnes with the appertce paying yerely unto Johane my wif 26/8 during the terme of hir lif.
   Also after the decesse of Johane my wif my feoffes shall make to William Willard my sone a state fee sympull of and in all my londs and tenements callid Pawlys with all the land and medowes pastures and services therto belongyng and of and in certen pecis of land and medow late purchased of Thos Butlott and a medow late purchased of Richd Gilwyn and a messuage with a gardyn and ix peces of land and iij peces of medow callid Claydens with a parcell of land callid Rogers land and a parcell of land late purchased of Roger Lewkenor and iij yerds of medow in Lymonds medowe late purchased of Richd Lewkenor.
   Also Wm my son immediatly after my decesse shall have all my londs with the profetts callid Sommers paying his moder yerely during hir life 26/8 [with power to ‘strayne’ for lack of non payment].
   I will my feoffes deliver a state in fee symple to Johane Ketill my dougher of and in a pece of land lying in Hadlow called Litell Barowes late purchased of John Affane. Item: I will the said Johane have the house she dwellith yn and vj crofts therto belongyng to Mighelmas twelfe monethes after my decesse rent free and a kowe.
   I will Johane my wif have a barne that I late bielded stondying upon part of the ground that I late bought of Roger Lewknor and a pece of land called Boryngallis and ij peces of land and medow late purchased of Richard Affane and Henry Affane.
   I will the said William my sone shall have the hole tenement callid Reamys durying the life of hir [sic] mother paying unto hir as is before rehersed and after the decesse of his moder then I will the said tenement callid Reamys shalbe devided by even porcions betwene the said Wm my sone and Richard my sone.
    I will Olyver Dowle and his wif durying their lyves shall have my tenement or messuage with the gardyn callid Brights in the which he is now dwelling paying therfore yerely 6/8 and after the decesse of the said Olyver and his wife the said tenement or messuage holy to remayn onto Margaret my doughter and after hir decesse to hir sone Thomas Clifton.
   I will the house I bought of Johane Chevynnyng callid the Clarks house I will the said Margret have it during hir life after my wiffs decesse and after hir decesse John Clifton hir sone to have it. If the said John or Thomas Clifton dye or they come to laufull age then the tenements callid Brights and the Clarks House with their gardyns shall holly remayne to Wm Willard my sonne.
   Residue of all my goods etc I geve to Johane my wif she to be myn executrice and John Bisshop of Hadlowe to be with hir oon of myn exors to see me honestly buried and brought to the grounde and thus in every poynt to see my will fulfilled and he to have 20s for his labor besids all his costs. And Wm Cazier to have 6/8, Robert Bisshop to have 3/4, John Tebold to have 3/4.
   Thies wittness my gostly fader Sr Richard Stodhort vicar of Lygh, Roger Lewkenor gent, Ric Lewkenor gent, Raynold Rowe gent, Wm A Childern yoman.
   Also I will my sone William after me decesse have my shope in Sevenocke if he will occupye.
    Probate 16 Aug 1505 by Johane relict and John Bisshop exors.
