The first part of this Will is written in Latin
2 Feb 1492. Johannes Judde of parish of Tunbrige
(Tonbridge).
Names and places mentioned include: Speldhurst, Thome Judde

This is the last Will of me John Judde of the parishe of Tunbrige
? made and openly declared there the secund day of February of the VIII yer of
the Reign of King Harry the VII apon the disposition of all my lands and
tenements etc beyng in the hands of my feoffes. First wher Wm
Ensing and Geffery Kent now my feoffs and all other now beyng infeoffed to
myne use my will is that they shall releace all their title and right in all
the seid premisses due the possession of the seid Geffrey Kent and the seid
Geffrey then to make state fee simple unto Thos Kempe, Squier, Sir
Thos Tilar parson of Spelherst, Parson Parker, John Tutor, Wm Ensing
and Richard Byrd of Sevenok of the New In to the use of the performyng of this
my last will.
First my seid feoffs shall sell all that lande I have beyng at
Coppyngs Croche the whiche I late purchaced of Thos Berme and the
money paied unto the hands of myne executors and they to dispose hit about the
moost necessary werks of the parish church of Tunbridge as ferre as hit will
extend and the Residue of all my seid lands and tenements etc I will that my
said feoffs shall suffre Margaret my wif to have the reasonable yerely issues
duryng all the terme of her lif and a yer and a day after.
And after shall deliver unto Thos Judde my son a state
of and yn my messuges sett and edified at Tunbrige and all the lands etc
called Barden and Houselands forthewith all other lands etc as shall meove
unto the seid Thomas my son by the right of his modirs enheritaunce forthwith
also with a pece of medowe lande (3 acres) late purchaced of Robert Latter, to
him and his heires.
Also in likewise my seid feoffs to make astate unto John Judde my
son of and yn my tenements and lands and wods called Barden next Spelherst
forthewith all suche lands and tenements etc. as I late purcheced of Wm
Salmon late of Spelherst and also a feld purcheced of Robert Crudde being next
unto the seid place of Barden next Spelherst to him and his heires.
And in like wise I wull my seid feoffs do make state unto Andree
Judde my son of and in all my lands and tenements etc. the which I late
purchesced of Robert Crudde and John Crudde of Rusthall except a litle hous
ioyned to the hous of Wm Goldsmyth and the feld before assiyned
unto the seid John my son conteyning V acres of land to hym and to the heirs
of his body.
If hit happe Thomas to dey without heires then his parte to John
my son and the part assigned unto John then to remayne unto Andree. And if
John deye then his parte shall remayne unto Andree and for defaute of issue of
the seid Andrew being John my son [sic] I will his parte then shall holy
remayne unto the seid John my son and for defaute of issue of John and Andrewe
being Thomas my seid son that then I will their parte shal remayne unto the
seid Thomas.
If hit happen Thos, John and Andrew my seid sonnes all to dey
than after a yer and a day after the deth of the seid Margaret my wif all the
parte to Thomas shall remayne unto Susan my doughter and the parte of John
unto Elisabeth and the parte of Andrew unto Johanne my doughter.
If all dey, as God hit forbede livyng my seid wif then I will my
feoffs shall make state unto the seid Margaret of all those lands etc. I late
purchased of Wm Salmon and also all that land I late purchased of
John Wybarn esquier called Bitbergh quarter and all that lande I late
purchesed of Richd Bedde called Byrchetts and iij asshis. To
Margaret and her heirs in fee simple.
I will after a yer and day after the deth of my seid wif my
feoffs shall sell all those lands etc. I late purchesed of the seid Robert
Crudde and John Crudde and the money therof cumyng XX marke therof to be to
the findyng of a secular preste to sing and rede in the parisshe churche of
Pensherst for the helth of my soule and the soules of Richd Crudde,
Agnes his wife and all their children soules my parents soules and all true
Xten soules by the space of ij yers. And other X marks to an other secular
honest and wel disposed to syng and to rede in the churche of Spelhurst for
the soules afor reherced.
The residue of all the seid mony half to the mariags of pouer
maidens within the seid parisshes of Pensherst and Spelherst and thother half
to the mending of foul waies in the parisshes of Tunbrige Pensherst and
Spelherst.
My feoffees shall sell [the seid] iij acras of medow late
purchaced of Robert Latter and the seid Thomas my son assigned and the money
to be disposed about the moost recessary werks of the churche of Tunbrige.
I will that all suche landes and tenements as lieth assigned unto
me by the right of my faders will may remayne according to the same my faders
will in discharging of my conscience.
In witnes of whiche thyng to this my present last will triplited
I have putte my seale one parte remaynyng in the keping of my feoffs an other
parte in the keping of my wife and an other parte in the keping of the wardens
of the churche of Tunbrige.
Witnessyng the seid Sir Thos Tiler, Richd
Latter, Humfrey Latter, John Sakery, John Shenefeld.
Probate 8 Sept 1493 by Margarete relict, Dni Thome Tilar and
Petri Parker.
