3 May 1501 (16 Henry VII). Thomas Ewen citezin
and grocer of London. To be buryed in the parish chirch of Saynt Michell
nygh Estchepe of London. To the high awter of the parish chirch of Saint
Magne nygh the brigge of London for tithes etc. 3/4. Toward the bilding
of the said chirch of Saint Magne £10. To the fratnite of our lady and
Saint Thomas founded in the same chirch of Saint Magne 20s. I will that
of my part of my goodis that half of the stone werk of the stepill of
saint Michell aforesaid be funsshed according to my promise by me to the
parisshous there.
To Margaret my wife the oon halfe of alle my goodis etc.
and the other half for my soule in dedis of mercy and pitte. I will
Margaret my wife have my tenement in the said parish of Saint Magne in
the Alley called the Chirche garden Alley. deluvyng every yer yerely
durying hir naturall life all suche candyll as shalbe necessary and
lawfull for the comen Lantern at Saint Magnus corner in the winter
season. I will Margaret my wife have all those my lands crofts and
pastures in the parissh of Dertford in Kent or els where within the same
Countie to her and hir heires.
