Church of St George
(Inserted in east wall of south aisle a Coat
of Arms). Near this place lieth the
body of Edmund GIBBON, who died January 1727 aged 53 and Sarah, his
wife, who died June 1751 aged 75. They had three sons and two daughters.
The surviving are Sarah who married Samuel PLUMER of Sedlescomb in Sussex,
gent, who also lies in a vault near. Francis, who married the daughter of
Samuel STILEMAN of Otford in Kent, gent. Here lieth the body of Francis
Gibbon of Cranbrook who departed this life February the 20th
1756 aged 53 years.
