What follows is as far as possible an accurate transcription of two of L.L. Duncan's field notebooks for West Kent memorial inscriptions. They are written up in his shorthand, in pencil, on the site, on rather yellowing, aged paper. The starting date for his work is not given but he dates the last entry as 25.5.19 His little, 6"x 4" note books were purchased near his home from "Lydall & Son, High Class Stationers and Fancy Goods Importers of 75, High Street, Lewisham"! The entire collection of Mr Duncan's notebooks and other materials are lodged with the Library of the Kent Archaeological Society.

March 1805 aged 44. Near are Smetheyt-Brooker-Spain son of Smitheyt and Nancy
Spain of St. Bartholomew near Sandwich died 3 January 1832 aged 6 months.

September 1785 aged 81. Also Mrs Mary Small wife of the above died 1 January
1810 aged 77. Likewise Henry Brooker grandson of the above died 26 June 1801

4. Vincent Perronet Briggs son of Mr
William Briggs of London, gentleman, and Mrs Elizabeth Briggs his wife and daughter
of the Rev. Mr Vincent Perronet, Vicar of this Parish. This infant died 8 April
1757 aged near two years.

They left their only daughter Susanna Pagittina Woodhams who caused this stone
to be erected.

wife of Thomas Norman Collier died December 3 1856 aged 58. Also Thomas Norman
Collier late of the War Office, Tower, died April 19 1864 in the 80th year of
his age.
138. Elizabeth daughter of the late William
Falcon of Whitehaven in Cumberland, Esq. died November 18 1847 (at the house of
her brother the Rev. William Falcon curate of this Parish) aged 47.

Parish, yeoman, who departed this life November ye 4th 1758 aged 63 years. Here
also lyeth the body of Elizabeth Nash wife of the aforesaid who departed this
life January ye 12th 1785 aged 77 years. Near here also lyeth two sons of
Benjamin and Elizabeth Nash. William died August 26 1746 in the 3rd year of his
age. Thomas died August 20 1768 aged 25 years.

this Parish who died August 12 1799 aged 63. Also Mrs Ann Nash wife of Mr John
Nash died March 17 1793 aged 52. Also Benjamin Nash, yeoman, son of the above
died August 6 1845 aged 71.

June 1 1858 aged 57. Also Harriett Stevens wife of the above died December 31
1884 aged 81.
