Stones in the South Western part of the yard
1. (Table Tomb). William METCALFE, schoolmaster of Lydd, died 12 April 1801 aged 68. Francis Metcalfe died 11 February 1826 aged 86. Mary wife of above Francis Metcalfe died 2 April 1828 aged 65.

2. William PIKE late of this parish died 18 May 1770 aged 49.

3. Sarah wife of Thomas BUSS died 16 July 1775 aged 36. Thomas their son aged 6 years. The aforesaid Thomas Buss died 25 October 1790 aged 61.

4. Mary wife of John RUSSELL of this parish died 8 August 1821 aged 58. Left issue one son Thomas.

5. (Altar Tomb). Inscription North side: Here lieth buried Mary MAPLSDEN maiden dafter ………. Jarvis Maplsden and Ana his wyf now dweling in Batel in the county of Susex, Yeoman, and being ther only child left hath brou ………hether to lye amongest ………. her brother ………. who ……. who in this glanathern (?) (?generation) ……………….. conversacion ……….. who deserved the good report of al pepil she was buried the Fyrst day of March in the year of our lord god 1572.

7. Elizabeth wife of Brandsend GODING of Kinghtsbridge in the parish of St. George Hanover Square, London died March ye 20 1779 aged 84. Left surviving 3 children, Jane, Thomas and Mary.

8. John DAWSON died 20 April 1866 aged 82. Jane his wife died 3 April 1870 aged 84.

9. Lawrence FOSTER of this parish, Miller, died 7 March 1853 aged 52. Leaving surviving by Martha Ann his wife 4 sons and 2 daughters, Eliza, William, John, Richard, Martha-Ann, and Albert. Martha-Ann widow of above died 18 December 1872 aged 60.

10. Thomas BOORMAN son of John Boorman and Elener his wife died May ye 7 1709 aged 24 years.

11. Mary BOORMAN daughter of John Boorman and Elanor his wife died May ye 5 1713 aged 13 years 11 months.

12. Here lyes the Body of John BOORMAN yeoman who died January 22 1718 aged 72 years. Also Eleanor his wife, she died ye 25 February 1729 aged 72.

13. (Rough portrait) Here lieth ye Body of John CHEESMAN who dyed February ye 6 1720 aged 34 years.

14. Nathaniel GOBLE of this parish yeoman died 29 October 1759 aged 62. Left Constance his wife surviver. (Left half of stone blank)

40. John LANSDELL late of Bexhill in Sussex died February ye 11 1769 aged 79. Elizabeth his wife died February ye 11 1756 aged 70. Erected by their son Isaac Lansdell of Bexhill, Sussex.

41. Elizabeth wife of George LANSDELL of this parish died 2 October 1773 aged 70. Likewise their children,       George - March 17(?34) aged 1 year, George - May 1737 aged 4 years, Lucy died June 1740 aged 11 years, Lucy  March 1744 aged) 1 year, Robert 1747 aged 5 years, Sarah 1771 aged 3 years. Left surviving Mary, Elizabeth, William, George, Edward, Stephen, James, Lucy and Hannah. The above George Lansdell died 1 March 1780 aged 78.

42. George LANSDELL late of Benenden died 11 April 1811 aged 73. Esther his wife died 30 April 1824 aged 78.

43. Theodosia wife of Mr. George GRIFFITHS of the parish of Stepney, Middlesex died 28 August 1830 aged 40. Left  issue Eliza and Amelia.

44. Joseph JENNER died 25 March 1807 aged 59. Mary his wife died 27 November 1837 aged 91.

45. Amelia Antoinette wife of John DRURY of this parish 3rd daughter of Mathew and Frances COWIN of New Romney died 31 March 1850 aged 35. Left surviving one son John. Above John Drury died 20 October 1862 aged 32 leaving his second wife Eleanor (see 39).

46. Reginald LEWIS of this parish died August 1799 aged 67.

47. A small iron cross, evidently to a child, inscription gone.

48. Ann WINSER born 5 October 1803 died 18 May 1804. Edward Winser born 19 August 1805 died 30 August 1806.

55. Edmund JEWHURST of this parish died 13 December 1858 aged 67. Left surviving a widow and 5 children.

56. Here lyeth ye Body of William Kadwell of Rolvenden yeoman who dyed May ye 2nd 1686 aged 47 years. Also here lyth Anne his wife dyed December ye 11 1701 aged 58 years. Having had 6 children 3 surviving William, Elizabeth and Giles.

57. Jane daughter of Samuel and Sarah HAYWARD of Benenden died 20 April 1823 aged 19. Also her brother Robert died 8 July 1814 aged 19. Also their sister Martha daughter of above Samuel Hayward by a former wife died 9 March 1813 aged 27 and of William their brother died 11 December 1835 aged 22 years.

58. Samuel HAYWARD died 28 October 1827 aged 70. Sarah his wife died 5 March 1845 aged 79. Three children of above Samuel and Sarah Hayward – Sophia died 26 October 1833 aged 34, Thomas died on his passage to Port Philip 18 June 1841 aged 40, James died 8 July 1842 aged 50.

62. Monument and cross by South Aisle: Robert Thomas Gybbon GYBBON-MONYPENNY Justice of the Peace D.L. of Maytham Hall in this parish late of the 86th and Colonel of the Royal West Kent Regiment, born 9 March 1823 died 27 December 1893. Erected by Marian to her beloved husband.

65. John GOBLE of this parish and Elizabeth his wife – He died 21stJuly 1775 aged 65. She died 17th July 1737 aged years 31. By whom he had 4 children 3 of whom lie near this place and one son who survives and by Mary his widow he left 4 sons and one daughter.

78. (Altar Tomb) In memory of Alexander WELLER of Rolvenden who died 1671 and his wife Joan. His sons Alexander, John and Richard and also of Tobias (son of Alexander last mentioned) who died 1689. Near this stone is also interred Captain John Weller Royal Navy son of Tobias who died 1752 aged 61. Likewise his son Admiral John Weller who died 1772 aged 51. Brother of Captain Nicholas Weller who died in the East Indies also in 1793 aged 67 Catharine widow of the above Nicholas daughter of the Right Reverend Charles CARR, Bishop of Killaloe in Ireland and William her son who died 1791 aged 22. In memory also of Lieutenant Colonel Francis Weller, second son of the above named Nicholas Weller who died on 22 January 1837 at Glasgow N.B. aged 73 years, of Rosamond his wife who died on the 1st November 1831 at Tonbridge Wells and of William their son a midshipman in the Royal Navy who died on the 22nd August 1824 off the coast of Africa in the 26th year of his age. [On North side] In memory of the eldest daughter of Nicholas Weller before mentioned who died in 1824, her husband Lieutenant Colonel Eidingtoun of Gargannock House, Stirling, N.B. who died in 1800 and of their son James Eidingtoun who died November 12 1837 at Duagh House, Listowel County Kerry, Ireland.

79. (Altar Tomb) Shield of Arms. Quarterly 1 and 4: Two chevrons between 3 roses 2 and 3 , on a bend eugrailed 3 martlets, Crest a greyhounds head erased holding in the mouth a rose slipped. To Robert WELLER of Kingsgate House, Rolvenden, died 11 May 1839 aged 75. Miss Mary Weller, spinster sister of above, died at Kingsgate House 2 December 1849 aged 81.

81. A cross. Christian Jane wife of Major T.M.M. WELLER and daughter of the late John BAIRD Esquire Justice of the Peace Lanarkshire, died 29 October 1866. Erected by her husband.

82. Daniel WELLER son of Richard Weller and grandson of Alexander Weller of Kingsgate in Rolvenden, died 30 June 1762 aged 79.

83. Thomas Montague Marlin WELLER, Justice of the Peace of Kingsgate in this parish, Lord of the Manor of Rusthall, Tunbridge Wells and formerly Lieutenant Colonel West Kent Light Infantry Militia Born 11 October 1803, died 15 April 1888. Mary Anne wife of Thomas Montague Marlin Weller and daughter of the late James SWORD of Westhorn Lanarkshire Born 9 July 1818 died 15 August 1899.

84. Ann GOBLE daughter of the late James and Margaret Goble of the parish of Benenden, died 2 July 1810 aged 11 years.

85. To Edward and Mary Ann WELLS of Tenterden who died 27 April 1849 aged 6 years and 5 months (sic) (name of child omitted ? or were they twins?)

86. Harriet widow of Thomas REYNOLDS and daughter of the late Stephen BRYANT of Rolvenden died 30 December 1879 aged 65, left surviving one son Thomas and 4 daughters, Jane, Sarah, Eliza and Emily-Mary. Also Thomas Reynols husband of above died 21 July 1893 aged 83.

87. John GREENHILL died 3 November 1880 aged 59. Leaving a widow and one son Edward-John. Also Eliza-Jane widow of above died 12 March 1894 aged 58.

88. Altar Tomb. Arms – 3 lions passant in pale. Crest a stags head, antlered, erased. [Coombe] On Top. In a vault beneath this Tomb are deposited the remains of Charlotte wife of Major George WILCOCK K.I.S. of ………….. East India Company’s …………. only child of The Reverend John R. COOMBE M.A. and Charlotte Coombe of Sparkes in this Parish. She died 23 October 1835 aged (?26) years. On South side In memory of The Reverend John Riche Coombe M.A. for 25 years Vicar of Tenterden and sometime resident in this Parish who departed this life 12 May  1855 aged 80 years. On North side Charlotte widow of the Reverend John Riche Coombe M.A. who died 14 May 1866 aged 90.

89. Nicholas BISHOP died 25 July 1821 aged 56. Left issue by Catharine his wife 4 sons and four daughters, Catharine, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Samuel, Thomas, Mary, John and Charlotte. Also Catharine his wife ………….

90. Mariann GREENHILL died 6 February 1809 aged 4 years and 5 months.

91. Thomas Bagley GREENHILL died 6 October 1850 aged 75. Rose his wife died 17 July 1850 aged 73.

93. Sarah wife of John THRIFT died 15 November 1856 aged 76.

94. Jane 3rd daughter of John and Sarah THRIFT died 30 November 1858 aged 43.

96. Alexander KADWELL died 11 June 1817 aged 62 years. Left surviving by Ann his widow 2 sons and 4 daughters. Ann Kadwell wife of Alexander Kadwell died 21 June 1830 aged 72.

97. Ann Catharine KADWELL died 12 October 1825 aged 11 years 5 months.

98. Granite Tomb beneath East window of South Chancel: Michael TWEEDIE Captain Royal Artillery and Justice of the Peace for Kent died 3 February 1874 aged 82. Frances his wife, of Rawlinson in this parish died 19 June 1884 aged 76.

99. James KADWELL died 31 January 1864 aged 90 years and 10 months. Sophia Kadwell his second wife died 26 May 1864 aged 72, Louisa-Mary his daughter wife of Thomas CABHAM who died 31 May 1841 aged 33, interred at Clapham, Surrey. Henry-Alexander his eight and last child died 24 September 1842 aged 37. Interred at Montreal, Canada.

100. Winifred, wife of James KADWELL died 3 October 1828 aged 55. Also buried in the same grave Frances their daughter and wife of Thomas TICKNER who died 7 October 1828 aged 33 and George their son who died 31 July 1828 aged 18 years. Buried in the same grave Samuel his twin brother who died 9 January 1838 aged 28. Robert their brother died November 23 1840 aged 28.

101. James and William KADWELL sons of James and Winifred Kadwell of this parish James died 14 April 1804 aged 1 year 6 months, William died 20 January 1807 aged 9 years 4 months.

102. (at North East corner of Chancel) Iron Cross. Henry Hunn RUMSEY, Born 5 November 1852 died 6 May 1861.

103. Joseph COVENEY late of this parish died 1 December 1783 aged 60. He had issue by Ann his wife 6 children Ambrose and Samuel died infants. Left surviving Joseph, Henry, Thomas and Ann. Aforesaid Ann his wife died 30 March 1787 aged 62.

104. Martha COVENEY wife of Henry Coveney of this place died 22 November 1817 aged 53. Left surviving Henry, William, Mary, Ambrose and Joseph.

105. (by North wall of Chancel) Frances Emma wife of the late Frederick HUNN, Captain Royal Navy died 8 January 1860 aged 72 and her daughter Harriette Emma PESSINA died 8 December 1859 aged 44.
   ( 2008-04-21 Grant Betts very kindly sends the following from the Gentleman's Magazine 1860
"At the vicarage, Rolvenden, aged 72, Frances Emma, widow of Capt. Hunn, R.N., and last surviving child of the late Adm. Pickmore, Governor of Newfoundland. Also, at Paris, on Dec. 8, aged 44, Mary Ann Harriette Emma, widow of Signor G.D. Pessina, and eldest daughter of the above Frances Emma Hunn."

106. Phillips Dunn MONYPENNY youngest son of Robert and Elizabeth Monypenny of Merrington in this parish died 16 February 1810 aged 3 years 6 months. Also near are the remains of James John Monypenny, second son of above Robert and Elizabeth died 5 December 1821 aged 17 years.

106a. (by East wall of North Chancel) Alexander VINE died 15 September 1804 aged 79. Left surviving Martha his wife, Alexander and James. Martha his wife died 1 February 1840 aged 83.

107. Robert TURLEY of Gate House in this parish Born 1 March 1788 died 30 January 1862. Sophia his wife died 17 October 1871 aged 81.

108. Charlotte Elizabeth CORKE died 1 May 1855 aged 7 years 6 months. Also Fanny Mary Corke died 7 October 1855 aged 6 years 6 months. Children of Richard and Mary Corke of this place.

109. Helen CORKE daughter of Benjamin and Dorothy Corke died 22 November 1829 aged 6 years. Also Emma died 29 November 1839 aged 14.

110. Mary wife of Benjamin CORKE late of Tunbridge died 9 October 1834 aged 64.

110a. Ellen wife of Edward TAYLOR and eldest daughter of Robert and Ellen TURLEY of Gate House in this parish died 26 August 1866 aged 26.

111. Mary LUCKHURST died December ye 1 1748 aged 24 in memory of whom Robert DAVICE of Biddenden erected this stone.

113. Edward MORFEE died in this parish 6 December 1873 aged 64. Also Harriet June his wife died 8 July 1884 aged 70. Also Edward Morfee son of Edward and Harriett Jane Morfee died 26 December 1877 aged 33.

114. Thomas Harden MORFEE and Mary Harden Morfee children of Edward and Harriett June Morfee of Park Road, Peckham, West London. Thomas died 6 November 1843 of scarlet fever aged 1 year and 4 months, his remains were buried in the ground of the Nunhead Cemetery Company. Mary died 21 May 1845 from the effects of a fit which came suddenly upon her in full health aged 4 years and 4 months. Her remains lie buried beneath this Tablet.

115. Caroline Harriette second daughter of Mr. F. BURCHAM of Dereham in Norfolk and second wife of Thomas HARDEN Senior of this parish died 13 December 1860 suddenly leaving one son Charles Wood.

116. (Altar Tomb) William and Elizabeth SLADE William died 20 March 1806 aged 70, Elizabeth died 18 May 1836 aged 89.

117. Mary wife of Thomas HARDEN of this parish Builder died 7 January 1813 aged 60, leaving issue 3 sons and 6 daughters: Mary-Ann, Caroline, William-George, Harriette-Jane, Thomas-Rubie, Albert, Ellen, Elizabeth and Maria. Also above Thomas Harden died 7 February 1868 aged 82.

118. Sarah wife of Thomas Rubie HARDEN died at Windmill Farm, Rolvenden, 3 September 1873 aged 55. Also aforesaid Thomas Rubie Harden died 11 February 1899 aged 83.

119. Ann wife of Oak SHOOBRIDGE of this parish died 16 May 1855 aged 86. Above Oak Shoobridge died 1 March 1862 aged 80.

120. Edward SHOOBRIDGE died 7 March 1878 aged 72. Leaving a widow and one son John.

Their tombs were repaired 1820 by Ellen wife of William JEMMETT Esquire great granddaughter of the above Felix Kadwell Esquire.

Here lyes ye Body of George KADWELL of this | parish Gentleman the youngest and sixth son of Thomas | Kadwell of ye same parish Esquire late Sherife of this | County who died December ye 30, 1700 in ye 24 year of | his age and ye 38th day after his marriage |. This done at ye expense of his wife Jane.  On the East end: My beloved is in the | Clefts of ye rocks How | Fair and How Pleasant | went thou to mee | This Thy tomb stone is like | a Palme tree and my | desir is towards thee.

126. On West end a shield of Arms – a cross formee fitchee between eight estoiles. Crest, a cocks head between 2 wings expanded, holding in the beak a cross formee fitchee. Supporters, on right a lion on left ---? Here lies the Body of John KADWELL Esquire 5th son of Thomas Kadwell late of this parish Esquire. He died the 15th day of August 1736 aged 64. He was for several years in the Commission of the Peace for the Counties of Kent and Middlesex and for the City and Liberty of Westminster. He married Elizabeth daughter of Mr. John GIBBON of London, Merchant by whom he had Issue 6 daughters where of 3 are now living viz: Elizabeth, Anne and Sarah.

127. In West end a lozenge shaped shield bearing Kadwell impaling Gibbon. Here lyeth the Body of Mrs. Elizabeth KADWELL widow of John Kadwell Esquire who lies near this place. She died May ye 3rd 1740 aged 59.

128. In the wall of the North Chancel. Beneath this stone lie the remains of Lawrence PETERS who having been found in a destitute and perilous condition on a foreign shore was providentially and humanely rescued by Captain James Monypenny Royal Navy. He lived for many years a faithful and attached servant in his benefactors family and at his death bequeathed the sum of one hundred pounds | the saving of his honest services | the interest thereof to be applied annually for the benefit of the poor of this Parish. The inhabitants desirous of recording their grateful recollection of his benevolence have erected this tablet Anno Domini 1853.

November 8 1835 and Mary MAULE his wife daughter of the Reverend John Maule, Rector of Horseheath in Cambridgeshire and Chaplain of the Royal Naval Hospital, Greenwich, died September 7, 1868 aged 89. Married in 1869 Marian eldest daughter of Captain Michael TWEEDIE, Royal Artillery and of Frances his wife of Rawlinson in this Parish. Died December 27, 1893. His widow and 5 children survive him. This memorial Tablet is erected by Marian to her beloved husband. I shall go to him he shall not return to me.

Underneath is buried James MONY--PENNY Esquire who died October 23, 1721 aged 51. Descended of an eminent family at Pitmilli in the Shire of Fife in Scotland. He married Mary daughter of Robert GYBBON of this Parish Esquire by whome he had five children; James Elizabeth, Robert, Phillips, James. The eldest James was buried in St. Ann’s Church, Soho, in the County of Middlesex and Phillips in this chancell, the three surviving children are under the care of Mary his beloved widow who erected this monument in memory of the best of Husbands. Underneath is also buried the said Mary Monypenny who died June the 2nd 1756 aged 71 years. She lived beloved and died lamented by all who knew her. Underneath is also buried the said Elizabeth Monypenny who died July 21, 1760 aged 43 years. [On left panel] Underneath is buried Robert Monypenny who died 29 March 1772 aged 53 years. Also Mary wife of the said Robert Monypenny who died December 4 1775 aged 54 years. Underneath are deposited the remains of Charlotte wife of the Reverend Phillips Monypenny A.M. of Maytham Hall in this Parish and Vicar of Hadlow in this County, second daughter of Sir Edward DERING of Surrenden -Dering in this county, the sixth Baronet by his 2nd wife Deborah daughter of John WINCHESTER of Nethersole in this County Esquire died XII November in MDCCCXXVI aged LXIV years. Underneath are also deposited the remains of the above Phillips Monypenny who died January the IV in MDCCCXLI aged LXXVIII years. A shield of arms below as follows. Quarterly 1 & 4 Monypenny. 2 Cathcart, 3 Blackwell . Impaling Quarterly 1 & 4 arg a fess az in chief 3 torteaux gules (Dering). 2 & 3 or a saltire sa.

349. (Marble) Underneath are deposited the mortal remains of James MONYPENNY Esquire, youngest son of James Monypenny Esquire and Mary his wife. Descended of an ancient and noble family at Pitmilli in the Shire of Fife in Scotland. He married Silvestra eldest daughter and co-heiress of the Reverend Thomas BLACKWELL A.M. Rector of St. Clement-Danes, London whom with four sons and one daughter (James, Phillips, Thomas Silvestra and Robert) he left surviving. Having finished a long and well spent earthly course he entered into Life Eternal on the 11th day of May 1800 in the 79th year of his age. Uncorrupt through life, just, kind, gentle, affable, patient in sickness, in death resigned. His afflicted widow and children bewailing together their loss have caused this monument to be erected. Underneath is buried Thomas Monypenny, son of the above James Monypenny, who died 24 September 1814 aged 51. Underneath are deposited the mortal remains of Silvestra widow and relict of the above named James Monypenny who departed this life February  13, 1818 in the 91st year of her age. Below is a shield of arms. Quarterly 1 & 4 Monypenny 2 & 3 Cathcart. In centre a shield of Pretence now blank but probably had Blackwell
(see No. 346).

South Chancel
350. (Marble monument on North wall) In a vault beneath is deposited with the remains of her ancestors the body of Elizabeth JODRELL widow the surviving daughter and heir at law of Phillips GYBBON and Catherine his wife. Obit 13 March 1775 aetat 57, without issue. Below is a lozenge shaped shield: A lion rampant between 3 escallops (Gybbon) impaling a lion rampant between 3 crosses crosslet fitchee issuing out of as many crescents.

351. (Under East window, a marble monument) over is a shield bearing on a wreath a demi afe (?lion) rampant reguardant, gorged with a embattled crown gu (?Phillips). Crest on a chapeau, turned up ermine on escarbuncle (Gybbon). Underneath are laid the Bodys of Robert GYBBON Esquire who died October 9, 1719 in his 77th year and of Elizabeth his wife who died October 20, 1691 in her 43rd year, only child of Elizabeth PHILLIPS widow here also interred who died July 13, 1718 in her 94th year. The said Robert and Elizabeth Gybbon had ten children: Elizabeth, Edmund, Phillips, Robert, Ann, Elizabeth, Mary, Richard, Ann, Margarett, of whom Elizabeth, Robert and Richard were buried in St. Clement Danes Church at London. Edmund the two Anns the youngest Elizabeth and Margarett in this Chancell. Mary the surviving daughter married James MONYPENNY Esquire. Phillips married Catherine daughter of Honor BEAR widow and erected this monument in memory of the best of parents. The said Phillips and Catherine are here buried. She died 27 September 1733 in her 51st year and he died 11 March 1762. in his 84th year.

352. (Marble Tablet) To the memory of Silvestra Elizabeth LE TOUZEL wife of Francis Thomas Le Touzel Esquire and eldest daughter of Thomas Gybbon-Monypenny Esquire of Hole House in this Parish died August 5 1848 aged 27. Left three sons Gybbon-Monypenny, Francis St. Denis and Charles-Edward. On the floor is a large stone with S.E. Le T.

353. (Tablet on South wall) A shield of arms. Quarterly of six: 1 Monypenny. 2 Cathcart. 3 Phillips. 4 Bear. 5 Blackwell. 6 A chevron between 3 swans. Crest Neptune riding a dolphin. Motto Imperat aequor. To the memory of Robert Honywood MONYPENNY Esquire late Captain in the 4th "The Kings Own" Regiment of Foot who died at Bangalore, East Indies on the 8th of March 1839 aged 29. This Tablet is erected by Lieutenant Colonel Breton and his brother officers in remembrance of his many estimable qualities and a token of affectionate regard.

352. (Marble Tablet) In memory of W.D. Cathcart Gybbon MONYPENNY died 26 September 1893. Thomas Phillips Blackwell Gybbon Monypenny. Emily Catharine Gybbon Monypenny died 8 December 1904 (sic). Laura Dunn Gybbon Monypenny died 2 July 1894. Richard James Lamb Gybbon Monypenny died 3 November 1874.

355. In memory of Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Gybbon MONYPENNY of Hole House in this Parish died 15 January 1854 also of Silvestra Rose widow of the above died 14 October 1874.

356. On the floor in the centre of this South Chancel is a slab containing the matrix of a foliated cross with a shield in the centre and one at each corner.

359. (A lozenge shape shield) A lion rampant collared and chained Elizabeth PHILLIPS ….. do of J Phillips of Middlesex Gentleman. Born ye 7 of February 16-4 died ……. of July 17….

360. (A shield of arms) Quarterly 1 & 4 Gybbon, 2 & 3 Phillips: impaling a bear rampant (Bear) crest – an escarbuncle Catherine wife of Phillips GYBBON Esquire died 27 of September 1733 aged 51, and he in his 84th year 11 March 1762.

361. In the East window of this Chancel is a shield of six quarters in glass. !. Quarterly 1 & 4 Monypenny, 2 & 3 Gybbon. 2 Cathcart. 3 Gybbon. 4 Arg a lion rampant, chained or (Phillips) 5 Blackwell. 6 gu a chevron arg between 3 swans (or pelicans) or. Under is "Anno Domini 1837". Over is the Gybbon crest – on a caf turned up ermine and escarbuncle. On either side is a roundel of glass, that on the left Neptune riding a dolphin (Monypenny), on the right, a demi-lion rampant reguardant, gorged with an embattled crown gu.

In the North Aisle
362. A brass to Richard Walker FORBES Esquire with inscription identical with No. 287 q.v.

363. (Brass) To the glory of God and in loving memory of Kenenth Digby TWEEDIE youngest son of Alexander Forbes Tweedie of Rawlinson in this parish. Born March 10, 1873 died at Peking February 17, 1910. Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might.

In the South Aisle
364. (Tablet) In memory of Trooper Joseph William CATT 86th Company Imperial Yeomanry second son of Amos Richard and Elizabeth Ann Catt of Upper Woolwich Farm in this Parish who died at Winberg, South Africa, 25 June 1901 aged 20 years.

365. On the font (14th Century) are the arms of Culpeper (arg a bend euyrailed gu) Guldeford of Nemsted Place (or a saltire between 4 martlets sa).

On the South arcade of the Nave are three hatchments:-
366. Quarterly 1 & 4 sa. 2 chevrons between 3 roses arg (Weller) 2 & 3 az on a chevron euprailed or 3 martlets gu. Crest a greyhounds head erased , holding a rose slipped gu leaves rest. motto ‘Steady’.

367. Gu, on a or between three cushions ermine tasseled or a fleur de lys sic (Hutton); impaling Quarterly Monypenny and Cathcart. Crest a Blackmore, holding a trident. [Probably for Reverend John Hutton of Houghton Hall Durham).

368. A lozenge shaped shield bearing as above (367) impaling Quarterly 1 & 4 Monypenny, 2 Cathcart 3 Blackwell. [Probably for Silvestra daughter of James Monypenny of Maytham Hall, wife of the Reverend John Hutton (see 367) She ob: 1826]

369. At the West end of the South aisle the Royal arms A.R. 1713 with motto Semper Eadem.

6.9.1919  EXPRESS AND ASHFORD ??? (Newspaper cutting)
Mrs. Charlotte Frances Baker, who passed away at Sparkeswood, Rolvenden, on August 29th, in her eighty-sixth year, was the widow of the Rev. Frederick Walter Baker, M.A. She had long family connections with Tenterden and the neighbourhood her grand-father, the Rev. John Riche Coombe, M.A. having been vicar of Tenterden from 1806 to 1830. he himself had followed his father, Dr. Thomas Coombe, D.D., formerly Chaplain to King George the Third, in the same vicarage. Dr. Coombe was a preacher of great eloquence, and a friend of St. Joshua Reynolds, Dr. Johnson and Benjamin Franklin.

After his resignation of the vicarage of Tenterden, the Rev. J.R. Coombe lived for many years at Sparkeswood, a house he had inherited through his wife on the death of Admiral John Henry, R.N., an old resident in the parish since 1760. Admiral Henry was allied by marriage to the very old Rolvendon family, of Weller, of Kingsgate. Mrs. Baker had been laid aside by illness for a considerable number of years, but there are many who will remember her unfailing acts of kindness in cases of need. The interment took place on Tuesday, in the family grave at Brighton, the service being taken by the Rev. H. Percival Smith, M.A., of High Halden, a former vicar of Rolvenden. In addition to the tokens from the family very beautiful wreaths were received from the Rolvenden Parish Council, Rolvenden V.A.D. detachment and the household and garden staff.
