following is as far as possible an exact transcription of Mr L.L. Duncan's field
notebook for the M.I.s at Horsmonden. His notebook written up in his shorthand, in
pencil, on the site leaves something to be desired. The paper of the notebook has
over time become somewhat dirty and aged but is an immensely valuable record of
that date.

this parish and died 5 February 1742 in [her] 71st year

and in fourteenth year of her age. "memento mori"

County Northumberland. The said Hugh derived the estates in this parish from his
cousin James Marriott Esq whose family enjoyed Office under the Crown at Hampton
Court during the reign of James 1st & who lies interred in
Hampton Church
