Abstract of the will of George Mace of Chelsfield
gentleman dated 18 February 1779
I give to my nephew William Brook [sic], son of William and
Hannah Brook of Halstead, a tenement and appurtenances called the King’s
Head in Shoreham, late in the occupation of Ann Field, to him and his
heirs for ever.
I give to my nephew George Brook his brother a tenement and
appurtenances in Shoreham, now in the occupation of Joseph Catt, to him
and his heirs for ever.
Each of my nephews is to be the other’s heir if either die
without issue. If both die without issue then I leave the premises to
their three sisters Hannah, Alice and Grace Brook equally.
I give my aforesaid nephews £200 each at age 21, and to
their 3 aforesaid sisters £100 each at age 21.
I appoint the said William Brook of Halstead to be my
Executor.
George Mace witnesses William Hills James Goiner [?] John
Mace.
Proved 1 March 1782 by William Brooks otherwise Brook the elder, the
Executor named.
