of Chelsfield dated 21 May 1821
Abstract of the will of James Graves of Chelsfield
wheelwright and farmer dated 21 May 1821.
My sons John and Thomas Graves to be Executors.
To my daughter Ann wife of John Gravett of Knockholt, farmer,
£10 per annum for life out of the messuage or tenement in Chelsfield
which I occupy, with barn, stable, outhouses and garden plot to the same,
called Sluts Hole, and one piece or parcel of land called the Codlin
Orchard of 3 acres, and out of the two messuages or tenements and gardens
near or adjoining the last-mentioned premises, now in the occupation of
Thomas Skinner and John Beadle. The annuity is to be paid to my daughter
half-yearly beginning 6 months after my death, she to have power to
distrain if it remain unpaid after 21 days.
I leave equally to my two sons John and Thomas Graves and
their heirs as tenants in common –
All my said 3 freehold messuages etc. at Sluts Hole, together
with my other freehold messuages or tenements with ground and gardens at
Green Street Green, now in the occupation of Mrs. Wakelyn, Thomas Stables
and Edward French.
I leave to my daughter Ann Gravett £3 for mourning.
I leave all residue of money, securities etc. and estate both
real and personal equally to my two sons John and Thomas Graves and their
heirs, they to pay all debts and funeral expenses.
